The Teaching Tolerance website states their mission as "A place for educators to find thought-provoking news, conversation and support for those who care about diversity, equal opportunity and respect for differences in schools". This organization provides many resources on embracing student diversity and striving for equality. This particular link is for one program they have started called "Mix it Up" which is a program that encourages students to sit with a new group and to reach across peer group lines. Teaching Tolerance provides many more resources on poverty, bullying and race relations. From professional development, to classroom activities to teaching kits- it is a resource dedicated to improving tolerance and understanding, which I believe is a major step in helping closing that achievement gap.
