This is the book i brought up in class last week whose title I could not remember. Quite disturbing--I read it the summer before I started teaching and I think it would be even harder to read. But, Kozol is a very engaging writer with an amazing ability to balance the personal and the political.
I heard this story on NPR and thought the study was very interesting. The study proves that physical exercise or movement increases student learning. We need more P.E.!

This is one of my favorite educational resources! The magazine provides a wealth of policy analysis, teaching ideas, and reassurance that it is possible to be a progressive and effective teacher. I also feel like their resources on multicultural education provides a nice counterpoint to Postmans' critique.
