Middle School | This American Life - 1 views

  •
Host Ira Glass interviews a 14-year old named Annie, who emailed us asking if we would do a show about middle school. She explains why exactly the middle school years can be so daunting. Stories from the awkward, confusing, hormonally charged world of middle school. Including a teacher who transforms peer pressure into a force for good, and reports from the frontlines of the middle school dance. [This might be good for fifth and sixth graders to hear before entering middle school as preparation for the pressure and offer opportunities to discuss how to cope.]

Potential applicants include classroom teachers, curriculum specialists, technology specialists, librarians, administrators, professional trainers, and other education professionals who actively serve the worlds’ primary and secondary teachers and students. Participants are selected based on their professional experience, their passion for teaching and learning, and their successful use of technology in school settings. Since the program relies on a "train-the-trainers" model, we are particularly interested in educators who actively provide technology-related mentoring or training for classroom teachers.

Great Science website needs further exploration. Wonderfully interactive, great user-friendly prompts that are easy to follow, and best of all great for dissecting without the bad smell, complaints of gross touching, or mess.

I watched a student dissect a frog on the smartboard. She brought it up and went through the intricate procedure following all of the appropriate responses. I was flabbergasted.
