  • 50 innovative educators are selected to attend each GTA based on the merits of their online application. Potential applicants include classroom teachers, curriculum specialists, technology specialists, librarians, administrators, professional trainers, and other education professionals who actively serve the worlds’ primary and secondary teachers and students. Participants are selected based on their professional experience, their passion for teaching and learning, and their successful use of technology in school settings. Since the program relies on a "train-the-trainers" model, we are particularly interested in educators who actively provide technology-related mentoring or training for classroom teachers.

Smarthistory, a multimedia web-book about art: discussing About Smarthistory - 0 views

  • Contact Us
  • About Our Merger with Khan Academy (October 2011)We are excited to announce that Smarthistory is now part of the Khan Academy. For the past year, we’ve been so impressed by what Sal and his team have accomplished. Our missions are perfectly aligned—we are all working toward a “free world-class education to anyone anywhere.”
  • So, it finally occurred to us, why not use the personal voice that we use when we teach online, along with the multimedia we had already created for our blog and for our courses, to create a more engaging "web-book" that could be used in conjunction with art history survey courses.

  • A Short History of SmarthistorySmarthistory.org is a free, not-for-profit, multi-media web-book designed as a dynamic enhancement (or even substitute) for the traditional art history textbook. Dr. Beth Harris and Dr. Steven Zucker began smARThistory in 2005 by creating a blog featuring free audio guides in the form of podcasts for use in The Museum of Modern Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art

Saw this video in another class and think it applies here! It talks about the same question as mentioned in the slideshare: How do we prepare students for an economy we can't predict, using outdated tools that no long are relevant? Plus the artist in me just loves the "live action" animation of the drawing of the main points. Enjoy!

Voki is a lot of fun. (You can embed finished Voki projects in Wikispaces, too, which could be very handy, especially if you're trying to create a simple site that would be engaging for kids.)
