Preschool Science Matters - 2 views

  •
Fit kids clubhouse has loads of ideas to engage young students in the learning process. The Preschool Science matters blog introduces a great lesson on solids, liquids, and gas using balloons that I could easily adapt to a 2nd grade level. I love that through this lesson a three year old child made the statement, "a solid is heavier than a liquid", brilliant.

Do2Learn everyday skills - 1 views

  •
This site offers social stories and picture cue cards to aid students in learning everyday routines. Some of the topics include personal care and hygiene, safety, food and eating habits as well as calendar practice. These pictures would be great to use as a reference tool for the students, and have them review in the morning before their daily begins.

This website is accessible for all ages, elementary, middle and high school. It has four main tools and services: The Renzulli Profiler, Differentiation Engine, Grouping and Reporting Tools, and Personal Success Plan. The Renzulli Profiler uses a strengths based assessment to find out a student's top three strengths, interests, and learning and expression styles. The Grouping and Reporting Tool then takes these results and uses them to group students.

Another great site with learning games. This one seems to be completely free (I haven't used it a ton, so maybe I just didn't reach the free-use limit). Best of all, it has games for nearly every subject, and the games are categorized by grade and subject.

Flipped Classroom Explained for Teachers- A Must Watch Video ~ Educational Technology a... - 0 views

  •
Keith Hughes explains how to flip your classroom. He gives a quick tutorial about how to do the video piece. He emphasizes three things: 1. Know your curriculum, 2. Know your audience. 3. When you know your curriculum and your audience, you can focus on how to engage kids so they understand your objective clearly. He suggests making a 10 minute video, and explains how incorporate the videos, font and lecture into the video. The students watch it at home and come to class prepared to discuss the concept. In this way, class time is not used to teach content, but to respond to the concepts the students viewed in the video at home.
