The Miniature Earth - 0 views

The idea of reducing the world's population to a community of only 100 people is very useful and important. It makes us easily understand the differences in the world. There are many types of reports that use the Earth's population reduced to 100 people, especially in the Internet. Ideas like this should be more often shared, especially nowadays when the world seems to be in need of dialogue and understanding among different cultures, in a way that it has never been before. The text that originated this webmovie was published on May 29, 1990 with the title "State of the Village Report", and it was written by Donella Meadows, who passed away in February 2000. Nowadays Sustainability Institute, through Donella's Foundation, carries on her ideas and projects. Donella Meadows' original "State of the Village Report" may be found at: www.sustainer.org/dhm_archive/index.php?display_article=vn338villageed The text used here has been modified. The statistics have been updated based on specialized publications and mainly reports on the World's population provided by The UN, PRB and others.

Does the flagship Gionee have what it takes to become the flagship of choice for Android phone fans? When Gionee released the Gionee Elife E7 the whole smartphone world stood back and took notice! The Elife E7 is the phone which has propelled Gionee in to the spotlight and the phone which will create a name for the long time smartphone maker. Although well known here in China and in India, Gionee have yet to really set the world alight but that all changed with the launch of the Elife series of phones. The first Elife model, the Elife E6, proved that Gionee know how to design an attractive, well made phone with capable hardware. The Gionee Elife E7 sealed the deal by taking the hardware level to 11 while remaining competitively priced! This is the flagship Gionee Elife E7 which boats 3GB RAM and Snapdragon 800 processor. The original Chinese review can be seen here, we have translated the review as best we can for English readers to enjoy. New ban imposed on regulating global warming gases - Yahoo! News - 0 views

  • The White House has repeatedly said that the Clean Air Act should not be used to regulate carbon dioxide or other greenhouse gases, even though an April 2007 Supreme Court decision determined that the EPA could do so under the law. But that hasn't stopped environmentalists from trying

Google For Educators - 0 views

Project Spectrum was developed by the SketchUp Team at Google to help people with autism take advantage of their visual and spatial gifts. The idea for Project Spectrum originated when we began getting phone calls and emails from users telling us about how much kids on the autism spectrum were enjoying SketchUp. As the calls kept coming in, we learned that people with autism tend to be visually and spatially gifted-that, in fact, they think in pictures. When people with these gifts get their hands on powerful, easy-to-use 3D design software like SketchUp, sparks tend to fly. Inspired by what we've learned, we've partnered with the Boulder, Colorado chapter of the Autism Society of America, the Boulder Valley School District, and the Life Long Learning Lab at University of Colorado to provide children with software and guidance that may help them to express an idea or even develop a life skill.

  • You see that old photo on the wall there behind you, kid? That little boy shaking that old man’s hand is me. That’s right. I was first in line when Ralph, the original owner, first opened up this little outdoor arcade of his. First to pick a lane, first to insert a coin, first to roll one of those wooden balls into the 50 point hole, first skee-ball champion of this great state, that’s me. Since then, I’ve seen this place trade hands more times than I care to count, but I’ve always been here, rollin’ away and rackin’ up the points.

DigiTales - The Art of Telling Digital Stories - 0 views

  • If you don’t have a good or powerful story, script, and storyboard, then there will never be enough decorating that technology can do to cover it up. On the other hand, demonstrating exemplar craftsmanship with mixing the technical elements in artful ways to unfold your story creates compelling, insightful, original and memorable pieces of communication. The richness of a good story can be diluted when technical elements are not artfully developed, over used, distracting, or just plain annoying.
