    This short, engaging video provides two excellent reasons for educators in particular to create a PLN: accessibility and responsibility. The author mentions that educators need to be more responsible for their own professional development. This video switches from the "why" to the "how", but the "why" portion is an excellent resource on its own.

It goes on to describe that a PLN is a 'two-way' street where you not only absorb information but also share with others your expertise. The author goes on to describe his PLN which includes ways to find answers to questions he doesn't know, how to collect information from other experts and also how to share your own expertise.

    I think the author makes a great point with the "two-way street" analogy. It helps differentiate the qualities of PLNs versus PLEs and reminds us that we can be a valuable resource in others' PLNs.

    Hi Jennifer, I never thought to look at Pinterest for anything like this but after seeing this resource I'll definitely keep it in mind! Great find, Pinterest is such as easy way to compile and share information and resources and this one has a lot of good links!

    Nice find Jennifer! I'm so much more into browsing a Pinterest page for resources. This delivery method is giving me ideas for my next Teaching Online course I will facilitate at Pierce. It's funny how first impressions of a newer app makes some thing that it wouldn't be useful in a learning environment. But Pinterest is just an easy way to curate any kind of information.

    This is a nice resource! Never would have guessed 5 years ago that I would be looking at Pinterest as a resource for a class. As you mentioned, it's nice to view pictures to help process and understand a concept, much like the project we completed to tie all of these topics together. Thanks for the post!

    I signed up for Pinterest last year but rarely touched it once the school year started. This was a great reminder of it's usefulness and incredible depth of resources that are out there. Thanks for the reminder.

    I have yet to get into Pinterest, feel it might be a black hole for me. These are some great PLN pins. The images alone give you a good idea of ways you can build your PLE.

    I stumbled across the video that a former student created that shows the differences of CoPs, Connectivism, and PLEs. What is cool is that the author uses only pictures, music, and written text to define them - no dialogue.

    This is a great find of a video explaining all three terms with using only visuals! It was constantly showing people working together that have a common goal to accomplish something.

    I think that videos are great resources to use. I think this is a great visual representation of Communities of Practice, Connectivism, and Personal Learning Environments. I also think it is funny where it shows the babies on cell phones. It adds a little humor to learning.

    I watched this because it was made by a former student. It was nice because it was different - the no words was a nice touch. I wasn't really a fan of all the images and I think they only made sense because I am watching this last. If I watched this first, I am not sure I would be much wiser. Not a criticism of the video per se, just didn't do a lot to further my rather limited knowledge. Sorry Matt! ;-)

    I watched the video and now need to go improve my presentation. The student did a great job of finding images that exemplified the topic. Even knowing this was for module 2, I kept waiting for words, not because I didn't get the message but I think people (teachers and students alike) are just so used to having words to rely on.

    This is a video discussion as part of a online course on connectivism.  Taken by itself, it is a little obscure, but taken in the context of EDTECH543 and in an attempt to understand connectivism, it was immensely helpful to me.  The video centers around the nine dots puzzle and the how the solution to it is a perfect example of connectivism.

    Fabio. Neat little video. Here is the part I find really interesting. In the comment area below the video, Alec Couros writes "Those that are connected...can pragmatically extend their neural networks beyond the confines of their own cognitive space." In essence they share brain-power with their network. It becomes so much more than "help me solve this" (which is how I use my small PLN). Taken in the context of this Stephen Johnson video shared here in Diigo as well ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NugRZGDbPFU ), it seems that the many pieces of a great unseen puzzle can come together through such connections. Would the PLN all be striving for the same end goal or simply working on similar goals and have the group epiphany? Funny how a short "cute" video and a comment from 4 years ago can get a guy thinking about such interesting, if not esoteric, ideas.

    This is a really cool video. Fabio, you are correct, watching this video helps make this topic much more clear. The comment shared here by Jon is quite profound. It make the saying that "two heads are better than one" seem very true, except now you can have thousands of heads working together. Very neat.

    Thanks for sharing this video. It made me understand that even if we think that at the beginning we are not going to need to get connected to a certain "point", you never know if in the future you are going to need information/knowledge from that source.

    I really like this 'outside the lines' way of looking at connectivism. There is so much information out there that we really might not need at a certain point in time but it is still there and can be accessed. It's interesting to think that we might be that point for others, we are still there but they don't need what we have right now.
