I realize Google is not the be all end all of finding relevant information on the internet, but I did a search for: "are cross curricular units beneficial"
and these are the top 2 hits:
    https://www.edutopia.org/blog/cross-curricular-teaching-deeper-learning-ben-johnson
This first article lists no references in support of the positions outlined in the article.
    The next result was:
    https://www.eduplace.com/rdg/res/literacy/interd1.html
This article was published in 1997, as was the next one.
So I decided enough of Google and went to Albertson's Library and found this:
    http://www.sciencedirect.com.libproxy.boisestate.edu/science/article/pii/S0883035512000663?np=y&npKey=e6c34bf14aa145852cc65d820eb8e5246ff95e3fc073698cd8068d1a5c4712c3
So at least I now have a concrete example of why Google is not the answer to everything to share with my students.
