  Article found on the U.S. Department of Education website. The dept. of ed supports CoP as a strategy and tool that will help to close the achievement gap and improve the way information is shared between education researchers and practitioners. An example of CoP is given to how such a strategy would be implemented - connecting teachers with content and resources, "but also to the experts and peers who can offer immediate assistance regardless of geographic proximity."

  This will be interesting, as ED starts to model and explore some best practices. It's one thing to say you support the concept, and quite another to actually do it - I'm encouraged that they intend to explore CoP in a variety of contexts!
