Role Play Western Colorado Territory

I came across a role play world called Amiville, Colorado Territory. I have joined a group of townsfolk who are trying to keep law in a lawless territory in the 1860s. There is an Indian Territory which is near and they attempt peace. However, there is also a band of outlaws attempting to wreak havoc all over the town. Since I joined earlier this week, the mayor and the Sheriff have both been shot and the town is being burned. They are calling for an emergency meeting of all guns, of which I am packing! Not sure how long I will be able to keep up with the happenings. It has been an exciting start...

The others take this town seriously. I showed up in my normal attire and was banned. I had to put in with a request from the general to be allowed back to town. One of the deputies showed me around and attempted to explain the bulls eye game interface thingy necessary to be allowed to walk the wicked streets of Amiville.

I am not much for role play. With our studies, who has the time? But, immersing myself into the virtual context has provided insightful considerations for learning opportunities. What if I was a rabbit competing for resources and avoiding predators. What an amazing lesson for food chains & webs.
Consider what students could create if asked to make grammar lands full of the Noun people, Verb people... etc. Creating dinner parties among characters could get interesting.

Hey that sounds a lot better than the role playing I was asked to participate in. I ran into a vampire clan and quickly quit SL for the night. Watch out for any Donner parties out there in your town. It sounds fun, but like you said who has the time these days.

Interesting posts. Were Beth and Mechelle, I'm not sure if you are in COMET 3, but during our last class, a pirate ship arrived on Aztlan. The crew totally took on the role of pirates and even yelled, "Man over board" when I fell into the water after exploring the ship.

This makes me wonder if drama students can use this to get into character for their productions. I don't know much about acting, but SL may have theatrical value.
