I do not know if a similar guide is available for Turkish teachers, but the General Teaching Council for Scotland has prepared a guidance document to help Scottish teachers with "identifying potential dangers, offering some guidance about how to avoid them and providing a context for responsible, professional use of electronic communication and social media." The guide concludes as follows: Before posting materials online stop and ask yourself: (1) Will the content reflect poorly on you, your school, employer or the teaching profession? (2) Is your intention to post this material driven by personal reasons or professional reasons? (3) Are you confident that the comment or other media in question, if accessed by others, (colleagues, parents etc) would be considered reasonable and appropriate?

This sharing provides you guidelines for planning and implementation of online communities of practice. You can find detailed information about dimensions of online CoP including the following: * Collective identity and clear purpose * Leadership and effective moderation * Opportunities for sharing knowledge, expertise, and experiences * Governance structure and guidelines for participation * Community sociability and usability * Measuring success

Since online networks and communities have opened new avenues for teacher professional development and connectedness, it is of paramount importance for us to explore the ways on how to make the best use of them. From my standpoint, it is not sufficient to introduce or sign up for them, we, at the same time, need to think how to maximize and optimize our experiences on such platforms. At the end of the day, we may find ourselves on the margins of such communities and networks only consuming or wandering aimlessly. :)

Just like many other people I have realized how Facebook has started to become obsolete among people recently. I have also doubts regarding its effectiveness for educational purposes, so I wanted to share this link that includes many alternative social networking platforms to Facebook. Through this link, you can also explore a number of interest-based social networks that are seen as the 'future of social networking'. After all, it depends on our own skills how to optimize those environments for our own academic or educational purposes. :)

I think for the elementary grade flipped classroom is hard to implement because holding students accountable and following their online preparation seem difficult. This short article offer some tips for flipping elementary classroom.

this video illuminated me about the minimum properties of an instructional video. I agree that while providing a video teacher should consider the grade of students. Language, clarity and length of video is important to gain student attention. And this is a good idea that starting with small pieces may be good to try the flipped classroom model and adjust students.

Wow, these students, though they are 7th graders, are able to form sentences with a good amount of intellectual load. They are aware of concepts such as "eğitim devrimi; öğrenme ortamı; öğrenme deneyimi" and many more. I wonder if this is another advantage of "flipped classroom modeli" because none of the college students I teach are capable of forming sentences as elegant as these.

To be honest, their comments are surprising for me too, especially when I see that they have experienced no challenge or discomfort in terms of adapting to this new model. Plus, all those comments look like they are promoting a market product. :) Perhaps our educational system has accomplished to raise students who are highly motivated and capable of adapting to rapid changes. :)

A widely preferred technique in flipped classrooms is to provide learners with short video lectures before the class time. The videos can be in the form of screen captures, webcam recordings of the lecturer, or in more professional setting, recordings of the lecturer in a real classroom setting. Here in this video, you can see an example of such a video in which a lecturer introduces how to use TED Ed, a popular tool for flipped classrooms.
