Purpose of the Website: The possibilities that Google provides for teachers is endless! There are so many applications that Google creates for classrooms to be used by students and teachers. Some of the programs include: - Google Earth - Doodle 4 Google - Gmail - Google Reader - Google Docs There are also classroom lesson ideas available for teachers on this website. Grade Level: K-12, Professionals Classroom Connection: One example of how Google can be used in the classroom is by using Google Earth. When teaching your students about communities, you can take your class on a virtual field trip of your town. You can pinpoint different community buildings that are important for your community to run and show students where these buildings are. Negatives of this Website: Some of the Google applications do not run correctly in my district. I have had trouble saving virtual field trips that I have made in Google Earth and there have been times when Google Docs have not opened correctly. So this may be a program that you will have to test ahead of time.

This is an online resource for lesson preparation.

This site is accessible by all, but if you want to unlock all that it has, you must purchase a subscription. There still is a lot to be accessed for free though. I really like the fonts that they use. Check out their holiday lessons. They teach the history of holidays-such as Valentine's Day. The Valentine's Day activities have been very interesting to my ninth graders over the past few years. You may be surprised to find out all that you don't know. K-12

Jing is a great Screencast resource. There is a free version and a pay version. Jing is easy to use and understand as well as easy to share once you are done with the creation.

Overview- This facebook like site allows a teacher to create a safe place for students to collaborate, discuss ideas, and enhance their learning by socializing over the computer. This is a teacher web-resource for all grade levels. Have you ever found that the URLs for your work can be very lengthy? I know we've all had those days in the computer lab where students are intermittently shouting "it's not working!" Save yourself the aggravation and make it shorter and more manageable. The possible con is that your tiny url may not be representative of the page itself-depending on availability. Enter your URL and see for yourself. 5-12

This resource takes wordle and goes a step further. All grade levels are able to benefit from this word cluster in a picture format. Might use it in English during a poetry unit.

3-12 A play on Wordle but with 'style'. Students and teachers can create a wordle with different shapes. Cons: You can choose your shape, but must adjust and play to make it good.

6-12 Teachers are able to give a poll or pose a question to students and allow them to use their cell phones to answer. Students will use text messaging to answer. Cons: its costs money and you cannot determine whose reponse is who.
