EETT Eliminated in 2011 Budget - 0 views

  •
The article talks about a proposed US budget and Obama wants to eliminate the EETT budget down to zero dollars. Now, if this passes, I am afraid that teachers and schools will be forced to pay their own ways to meet the technology standards without the aid of the federal government. Teachers will soon be expected to perform miracles, get your ticket early for the best seat. (/sarcasm)

Here is an article that discusses how games can be integrated into the classroom and be used for learning purposes using technology such as computers and augmented reality devices. It also discusses the challenges that they have faced creating and implementing these games into a learning environment and the challenges that they feel they'll have to face to make it more successful.

Great article. Chris Dede is brilliant - I've been studying with him the last two semesters and have played Alien Contact. In fact, I am currently working on developing an augmented reality tour of the Black Heritage Trail in Boston. The Apple iPad was just announced.  Make sure to watch the video to see its capabilities.  Not only can download books, but it also has a built in day planner that could eliminate the need for assignment books.  Where do you see the potential in education?

All Play and No Work - 0 views

An older article but the idea is still sound. This supports my idea that games must be introduced into the classroom. When the classroom is all work and no play, the students are not motivated to learn. If games are incorporated in an educational context and the student is given a key role, the student becomes highly motivated and invests huge amounts of time and energy because games require comprehension and mastery before advancing.

Teachers take bulletin boards online - 1 views

  •
I really like this concept, teachers are now blogging. This is a huge thing among teenagers, they love to blog online about their lives and so on. Teachers use blogs as a way of informing parents what is going on in the classroom. The teachers also use blogs as a way to add extra information, give students who were ill their missed assignments, and even help students learn from home.
