Assignment, Module 3 - Jingproject.com is free software that allows users to take screen shots, record video of onscreen movement (up to 5 minutes), and instantly share over the web, in Flickr, Twitter, and through e-mail.  It can be used with both the Windows and Mac OS X platforms.   Users can add captions, highlights, or arrows to enhance screenshots.  The site also provides a help center to assist in questions or concerns.  Jing Pro is available for less than $15 per year.

Through the use of iMovie participants will create a short digital story. iMovie is a user-friendly programt hat allows you to integrate any of the pictures, audio, and videos on your Apple computer into one movie. iMovie is one of the simpler to use video creation softwares available for Apple, and it also comes standard with the computer. Through the use of iMovie the participant will be engaged in generative learning since it is their motivation as a learner that will determine the success of their digital story that they create.

Brief Description: Dim Dim 5 is a software tool that allows individuals to present presentations, give audio, and share whiteboards by the press of a button. Brief Explanation: Although Dim Dim 5 is a software that may cost, Dim Dim 5 let group members present live (with a webcam) and audio conferences, do not have to install any software, and let up to five members participate in a session.

Brief Description: Google docs is a website that allows more than one individual construct and critique documents despite their distance. Google docs allow groups to create a spreadsheet, drawing, presentation, documents and forms asynchronously or synchronously. Brief Explanation: Google docs is a great website to use because it is easier to use, saves the documents, and allow group members to work on the document even without their group members there. Also no one can erase the information from the document due to the fact that an invitation is required in order to have contact with the document.

Teachers are able to use pre-made rubrics for various assignments. Also, it offers several rubric building opportunities. I think this website gives many examples of effective rubrics that can assist as I create one for my work shop.

Brief Description: Educators are able to create or use saved rubrics based on the preferences of their assignment. Brief Explanation: This is a great website because it is easy to use, flexible, and can save their rubrics for others and the future.

This is a great resource for teachers. It offers videos, docs, audio, photos, channels, blogs, etc. that teachers can share. Videos can be uploaded and downloaded to share with other teachers. I think this will be a very useful and effective way to share presentations in my workshop.

This website allows the user to create an outline. It will convert the outline into a mind map that can be used for organizing ideas. This will be very useful to those students who take notes during presentations. I would like to offer this during the presentation to those participants who find note taking helpful.

This website is an interactive graphic organizer tool. It is a free resource that allows the user to create many graphic organizers to be used in a class. It is very user friendly, and can be designed to fit any workshop. Also, it allows real-time collaboration.

This website is another mind map interactive tool. It offers many design features that allows the user the freedom to design a mind map. It is an awesome brainstorming tool that I will use in my workshop as a pre-training activity. I think this website is easy to use, and I love that fact that it creates an outline as you make the mind map.

This website allows the user to create interactive, unique mind maps that can be shared with peers , saved, or printed. The application is free. It is very useful for brainstorming. It will be useful in the pre-training of my Literacy Work Stations workshop. It is very easy to use, and I like the way it allows the user to be creative.

A humorous look at bad PowerPoint design.

The topic of my multimedia workshop is on How to Utilize Multimedia to Create Effective Instructions. I plan to use PowerPoint as my multimedia artifact. In Jones (2005) article she establishes the fact that the technology of choice for most projects was PowerPoint. The main reasons for selecting PowerPoint for my multimedia project coincided with what was discussed in this article. PowerPoint is accessible and familiar to most educators and students. It is simple to use, can be created on desktop, visually stimulating, sounds or auditory stimulation can be added and can be use for cognitive abilities. In addition, PowerPoint has presentation versatility because it can be used as an original file, PDF format, and html format. It can also run with videos and have narration added. Finally, the software allows for interactivity. The focus of the multimedia workshop is to create a learner-centered approach to learning instead of a technology approach to learning; the software is used to facilitate this process (Jones 2005, p. 1). Mayer's (2008) active processing is when meaningful learning occurs and learners are engaged in the active cognitive processing during learning and instructors must figure out ways to prime the learners to pay attention to relevant material, and mentally organize the information and integrate the information based on their prior knowledge. The ability to actively process information can be associated students dynamic, collaborative and synergistic construction of significant knowledge within a multi-learning environment. Jones, D. The topic of my multimedia Artifacts project is How to Utilize Multimedia to Create Effective Instructions. Robertson, et.al (2010) article on cognitive tools-emerging perspectives on learning and teaching, was definitively learner-centered approach to learning. Various multimedia artifacts such as PowerPoint Presentations, Notebook Online discussions, Teleconferences, Video streaming and Podcasting (LearnOutLoud.com) allow students to retrieve and identify information through learning situations that required the seeking of information. Information was presented in a meaningful and appropriate representation that supported the participants by allowing them to use technology tools to establish relationships among information by structuring or restructuring information and manipulating the information (p.1). Mayer's (2008) dual coding /dual channels is where participate take in information as visual (through the eyes) and the verbal channel which deals with processing sound,( spoken text ). My multimedia project title is is How to Utilize Multimedia to Create Effective Instructions. The Value of Multimedia in Learning written by Shank (2005) outlined the benefits of multimedia in learning. A well-designed multimedia presentation helps learners build more accurate and effective mental models than they do from text alone. Shephard synthesized studies showing potential benefits of well-designed multimedia, including: (Shephard, (n.d) as cited in Shank 2005, p.4). A well constructed multimedia presentation can definitively be identified as learner-centered approach to learning. Mayer (2008) also describes potential benefits of multimedia. Given that humans possess visual and auditory information processing capabilities, multimedia, he explains, takes advantage of both capabilities at once. In addition, these two channels process information quite differently, so the combination of multiple media is useful in calling on the capabilities of both systems. A good alternative to MyWebspiration.com with many of the same features. In MyWebspiration I did not uncover how to save my work as an image, something that would facilitate photo editing. Bubble.us.com enables this function.

The correct website is www.mywebspiration.com. This website has various applications. For purposes of my workshop pre-training, I would lead with a mindmap that would illustrate its organization and concepts, and then hyperlink these to the tutorials in commoncraft.com and other resources. Audio, sharing, and outlining features would also be leveraged.

Commoncraft.com not only tutors on how-to functioning of various multimedia tools, but uses creative whiteboarding-based video descriptions that illustrate Mayer's Coherence Principle.

Rubistar is an online tool that allows you to create rubrics for any purpose. There are a number of good themes and template examples created by others that you can search for. The site gives you assess to these templates and allows you to save your rubrics online and even print them. I can use this site to create a rubric for assessments and a guide for students. Rubistar is user-friendly and gives you a tutorial on how to use the site. This would be very effective for first time users.

Smart Technologies gives several tutorials in various forms, written, videos and interactive on how to use the Smartboard in the classroom including the actual setup methods. I chose this site because this is the creator of the Smartboard which would make them very knowledgable and trustworthy as to how their product works. The tutorials are written where any person can understand and easily accessible.
