    Marion Bush-Multimedia Artifacts

The three web sites that I selected that include multimedia artifacts for active learning: 1) http://www.learner.org/ The learner.org website is a cognitive activity. This web site accomplishes the learner-centered approach. The web site focuses on using multimedia technology as an aid to human cognition (Mayer, p. 13 2009). It uses film clips to demonstrate the practical applications of various mathematical concepts to real life situations. It builds a connection of what the students are studying to a concrete example (visual) to create a clearer mental picture form prior knowledge to new knowledge that is being discovered. 2) http://pearsonmylabandmastering.com/ The My Lab web site is a behavioral activity. This web site accomplishes the learner-centered approach. The web site focuses on rewarding students for the correct responses (excellent) or punished for the incorrect ones (try again). The underlying metaphor is that of drill-and-practice system, so multimedia is a vehicle for rewarding correct responses and punishing incorrect ones (Mayer, p.15, 2009). A student receives immediate feedback positive or negative and strengthens a response system to proceed or provide reinforcement of the content. 3) http://webgraphing.com/ The web graphing web site is a cognitive activity. This web site accomplishes the learner-centered approach. The web site provides engagement between the student and the graphing calculator. Multimedia learning is a sense-making activity in which the learner seeks to build a coherent mental representation from the presented material (Mayer, p. 17, 2009). The students actively engage with the graphing calculator along with the teacher

Infographic - An Education in For-Profit Education - 2 views

  •
This inforgraphic provides data to the reader in an engaging, well-organized manner. It introduces a number of terms that can be built upon later in trainings, and it does so in an easily accessible, yet engaging manner. It allows one, later, to reference the specific information during discussions or other activities. This format is more desirable and potentially effective than other mediums because it is concise and easily manageable. It doesn't require a great deal of reading to understand, which is important in pre-training.

Jing is a free screen casting software available from Tech Smith. Jing allows users to make up to five-minute screen casts that can be used for tutorials and presentations. Jing is useful in both essential and generative learning process.
  •
Jing allows for the recording of screenshots to create images, as well as filming screen casts of actions performed on the user's screen. It also has an added multimedia feature to add audio to screenshots and screen casts. I chose this website because it will allow me to create a screen cast video for my workshop participants to show them how to use different features in creating a glog using Glogster EDU.

Jing is a screen capture program that can combine pictures and recorded audio. This is program is like a scaled down Camtasia, and is not as powerful, but also does not involve the cost of Camtasia. The screen capture and voice capture functions do work as advertised. Jing can capture anything displayed on your computer screen, pictures, video being played, movements of the mouse etc, the final product can be saved for further use, shared online, or emailed to others.
  •
Jing is an online computer service that provides its users with the capability to capture basic video, animation, and still images, while also being able to share what has been captured on the web with others. Jing can capture anything displayed on the computer screen, including pictures, video, and even movements of the mouse. The final product can be saved for further use, shared online, or emailed to others. Jing is considered a technology-centered program that has the capability to produce learning. The technology-centered approach fails to lean to lasting improvements in education, therefore, the use of jing alone would not warrant effective learning.

Jing can capture anything displayed on the computer screen, including pictures, video, and even movements of the mouse. The technology-centered approach fails to lean to lasting improvements in education, therefore, the use of Jing alone would not warrant effective learning. This particular screencasting program is one of the best, because it is free and it can be used in a number of ways (from pre-training, to teaching, to presenting).

o Jing is a screencast program where users can create a video of their screens while narrating instructions. In addition, users can develop screenshots with notations to create manuals and instructions. Students can demonstrate procedural knowledge through the use of this program and make sense of processes. In addition, teachers can share vast guidance on how online programs and feature work through the creation of screencasts. o The site is free which is pretty incredible considering you can also host your videos and share them via a url which makes emailing large files much easier. The site is easy to use and the quality of the screencasts remarkable.

Xtranormal is an online site where you can make movies by combing graphical actors with text to type in a script to be used, or record directly. The scenes then can be acted out and recorded, used online or downloaded. The video maker allows for the addition of background music and or sounds, different camera angles, and movement and gestures of the actors. This is a great program that can be used by teachers and students alike for digital storytelling. Teachers that subscribe to the pay site can set up a classroom where each of their students will also have access to the site.
