ePortfolios and GoogleApps - ePortfolios with GoogleApps - 0 views

  •
Dr. Barrett's (n.d.) webpage presents an introduction to the types of ePortfolios in a learner-centered approach. The website requires cognitive activity and capitalizes on the use of multimedia to present the essential content; and it does so following instructional design principles as recommended by Mayer (2009). Beginning with an anticipatory set to activate the learner's prior knowledge, the lesson page begins by asking learners to think about their own personal use of portfolios. Immediately following, the essential material elements are presented in a cartoon image, capitalizing on the benefits of dual coding (Id.), using both images and key words to help learners pay attention and select appropriate information. The image also relies on spatial contiguity (Id.) in its presentation format. This webpage itself would fit into Mayer's (Id.) use of multimedia as "information acquisition." However, coupled with a reflective activity, learners would be able to make more integrated sense of the types of portfolios available and which types would be most suited for their particular needs. Google docs - 0 views

Brief Description: Google docs is a website that allows more than one individual construct and critique documents despite their distance. Google docs allow groups to create a spreadsheet, drawing, presentation, documents and forms asynchronously or synchronously. Brief Explanation: Google docs is a great website to use because it is easier to use, saves the documents, and allow group members to work on the document even without their group members there. Also no one can erase the information from the document due to the fact that an invitation is required in order to have contact with the document.

Google Docs.com - 0 views

This website promotes both technology-centered and learner-centered instruction. Teachers will instantly have access to computerized graphic organizers, spreadsheets, and presentation templates. Google Docs has the potential to equalize technology gaps between the haves and the have-nots. For example, any student, who can access the Internet, can obtain a Google Docs account.

*Using ePortfolios is a powerful tool in showing student growth during a course. Google sites allows the creater to devlop collaborative wiki pages. *There are multitudes of tools available for creating ePortfolios including blogs (Blogger), wikis (Wikispaces), and site building tools (Yola) all of which are a part of my PLN. I've chosen GoogleSites as a standard and ease of interfacing with all of the other Google apps.

Why use Google Apps Everyday in Education - 0 views

  •
This site boasts a 12 minute video to visually appeal to the learners to see and hear how Google apps can be implemented in the daily life of an educator. It demonstrates for the learner all of the various possibilities that Google has created to alleviate some of the time pressures teachers experience. It is for the teacher who is not aware of all that Google has to offer.
