Another useful post from Richard Byrne with some good ideas about using PicCollage with students. With the app you can arrange pictures, video, text, and stickers into collages very easily. "From the app you can share your collage to Google Drive, Instagram, Facebook, Dropbox, and many other file sharing services" He has also included a video where he demonstrates how to use the tool without creating a PicCollage account. It is a free tool and available as an Android or iPad app.

"Derrick Waddell created a Facebook template for historical figures to leverage student interest. This template, available through the Google Docs public template gallery, asks students to complete a Facebook profile for famous people throughout history with a place for pictures, an "about me" section, a friends column, and a map to plot the travels of historical figures. It will not result in an actual Facebook account being created."

Amazing concept, building on what some teachers probably already managed to do with a pencil and paper worksheets but with an online language that some students will be already familiar with.

The graphic below pits our social network usage against the huge adoption of mobile phones - currently at 4.6 billion worldwide. Facebook, with over 500 million users, is still around 10 times smaller than the worldwide mobile market. Even web-based e-mail, which accounts for over 800 million users collectively, barely holds a candle to the mobile juggernaut. The key here is convergence. Air Video is great, this is an awesome app. I have used it to share videos off my laptop for students to view on the iPad. Nice summary of cool iPad Apps that are serious game-changers.

FileDropper.com is another online file storage. The files are kept forever as long as they are being downloaded. If the files are not downloaded even once within 30 days consecutively they are removed. If you have a premium account your files are never deleted. Maximum upload is 5Mb.
