    Basel Action Network (BAN) Toxic Trade News, 6/10/09. "The Environmental Protection Agency filed a legal Complaint and Compliance Order late last week against EarthEcycle, the electronic waste handler for several charity e-waste collection events held in the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in recent days. Basel Action Network (BAN) tracked 7 sea-going containers of the collected toxic e-waste to Hong Kong and South Africa after assurances were made by EarthEcycle owner, Mr. Jeffrey Nixon, that the wastes would be recycled locally. The EPA complaint cites 7 violation counts for illegal management and exportation of 'Cathode Ray Tubes' - the picture tube of old computer monitors and TVs. The counts include 'unauthorized export of hazardous waste' and 'failure to prepare a hazardous waste manifest.'" Article also reports on the decision of certain charities to continue their fundraising relationships with EarthECycle despite allegations of illegal exportation of waste.

    More than 20,000 computers and televisions were dropped off at Canberra's tips over the weekend as part of a free e-waste disposal scheme. There were line-ups at all three drop off points. Shipping containers at the Tuggeranong site was full by early Sunday morning. It usually costs nearly $40 to dispose of a computer and a monitor but thanks to Apple, that fee was waived for the two days

    The lines stretched as long as the wait time. With backseats and pick-up trucks packed, Sedgwick county recyclers crushed the number of cars that were expected to roll into the Kansas Coliseum on Saturday.

    People began lining up early Saturday morning to recycle their used electronics. In fact, so many came out to Sedgwick County's 'E-Waste' collection drive, organizers ran into problems. Several people called the Eyewitness Newsroom complaining about long lines. Organizers report at least 1,400 vehicles coming through the checkpoints at the Kansas Coliseum. They had expected 1,000. Reporter Kim Hynes reports see at least one accident.
