Awesome webquest on MLK, Jr. for middle school students - relates to SOL VUS.14 The student will demonstrate knowledge of the Civil Rights movement of the 1950s and 1960s by a) identifying the importance of the Brown v. Board of Education decision, the roles of Thurgood Marshall and Oliver Hill, and how Virginia responded; b) describing the importance of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), the 1963 March on Washington, the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

Educational WebQuest for students wanting to learn about habitats & endangered species! Relates to SOL 2.5 The student will investigate and understand that living things are part of a system. Key concepts include a) living organisms are interdependent with their living and nonliving surroundings; b) an animal's habitat includes adequate food, water, shelter or cover, and space; c) habitats change over time due to many influences; and d) fossils provide information about living systems that were on Earth years ago.

Even though this webquest says 3-5, it could definitely be used at Grade 2 as a part of a unit on China! Related to SOL 2.4 The student will develop map skills by a) locating the United States, China, and Egypt on world maps; b) understanding the relationship between the environment and the culture of ancient China and Egypt.

Educational webquest related to costs of war - awesome for secondary history! Relates to SOL USII.1 The student will demonstrate skills for historical and geographical analysis and responsible citizenship, including the ability to: i) identify the costs and benefits of specific choices made, including the consequences, both intended and unintended, of the decisions and how people and nations responded to positive and negative incentives.

Webquest relating to the Gold Rush and Westward Expansion - could be used for students in 5th or 6th grade learning about California and the 1840s. Related to SOL USI.8 The student will demonstrate knowledge of westward expansion and reform in America from  1801 to 1861 by a) describing territorial expansion and how it affected the political map of the United States, with emphasis on the Louisiana Purchase, the Lewis and Clark expedition, and the acquisitions of Florida, Texas, Oregon, and California; b) identifying the geographic and economic factors that influenced the westward movement of settlers;

Educational webquest for students at a younger grade - related to SOL K.11 The student will a) identify, describe, and trace plane geometric figures (circle, triangle, square, and rectangle); and b) compare the size (larger, smaller) and shape of plane geometric figures (circle, triangle, square, and rectangle).

Even more in depth webquest for students on Ocean Zones and the difference between the sunlight zone, the midnight zone, and the twilight zone. Relates to SOL 5.6 The student will investigate and understand characteristics of the ocean environment. Key concepts include a) geological characteristics; b) physical characteristics; and c) ecological characteristics. 

Educational webquest on Snakes that could be used for almost any elementary grade! Relates to SOL 5.5 The student will investigate and understand that organisms are made of one or more cells and have distinguishing characteristics that play a vital role in the organism's ability to survive and thrive in its environment. Key concepts include a) basic cell structures and functions; b) classification of organisms using physical characteristics, body structures, and behavior of the organism; and c) traits of organisms that allow them to survive in their environment.

Educational webquest perfect for third graders learning about water and its different uses! Related to SOL 3.9 The student will investigate and understand the water cycle and its relationship to life on Earth. Key concepts include a) there are many sources of water on Earth; b) the energy from the sun drives the water cycle; c) the water cycle involves several processes; d) water is essential for living things; and e) water on Earth is limited and needs to be conserved.

States of Matter. Basic but includes a video, interesting changing states of matter game, a song, and a journal for students to print out and complete. Journal is basic but could glean much information about what the students learned from the WebQuest.
