I was searching around a lot of these links posted to EDUC 525 but I have to say there was something about reading why RSS was important that really was eye opening. The power seems to lie in the ability to send it all to them instead of asking them to come and get it....I think the analogy was getting up to go down to the candy store or having the candy delivered to your door step. In terms of getting students attention, the most direct route is the better route.

This video is a bit outdated, but I was assigned to watch it for another course, and I think it has some awesome reminders of the number of ways in which we can incorporate multimedia in the classroom. However, I would not do the Facebook group/page, as that would involve becoming "friends" with students online, and I also think that some of these methods are not integrative, which is not ideal.

This would be a great thing to use for a quick survey of how students are doing with new material. I just wish my school had a better WIFI connection. -
I agree with @areinsburrow that this app would make for a great survey for seeing how students are getting along new material. Using the Marzano learning scales (4-1) is a quick way of gauging understanding, but it would be nice to have something tangible to document individual students' understanding of lessons that way teachers can track their progress. Sometimes in my classroom I feel as though I reach some students too late when teaching new material, and it's hard to catch them up during small group or one-on-one instruction. This is app is a good, anonymous (to others, not the teacher) way of assessing student understanding.
