What the companions call each other in conversation: - 1 views

  •
Mostly the companions call each other by name, but for writing purposes and also because of the insight into their relationships, it's worth noting what else they call each other, so here's what I found going through the dialogues.

Inquisition Area Maps - 0 views

  •
Got these maps off of a post on reddit, and I superimposed the Locale and the Collection maps together to form one complete map for each area. Some legend symbols are a bit faded out on the map, but I'm too lazy to darken them all individually and they're mostly just camp sites anyway. These were just going to be for my personal use (since I don't have the guide and I hate having to rediscover everything) But I decided to post these here! Enjoyyy

Random thoughts related to Orlais and The Game - 0 views

  •
I think The Game is very difficult to write effectively partly because we don't really have this level of detail about Orlesian noble culture-but if we borrow from our own past, I think lots of interesting possibilities open up. The language of flowers, the meanings of gems, the implications of certain scents, sumptuary laws regarding who is and is not allowed to wear various forms of adornment…I'm sure there's so much more. And I think that while it'd be easy to get bogged in details like this, using them sparingly can add a lot to the richness of worldbuilding.

Do you know if Sera is the Denerim Red Jenny, or... - 1 views

Do you know if Sera is the Denerim Red Jenny, or the Val Royeaux Red Jenny? Do you think Tevinter has Red Jennies?

Wicked Grace - 1 views

Sorting through all the rules of Wicked Grace that we're told. Isabela's initial instructions to the Warden: "Have you ever played Wicked Grace? It is easy to learn, but difficult to master. You must watch your opponent's moves as carefully as your own. First, you must know that there are four suits: serpents, angels, knights and songs."

Anders on blood magic - 0 views

  •
i was thinking about anders (i'm always thinking about anders) and i was curious -- do YOU have any headcanon/thoughts as to what might have caused the shift from "making jokes if you make him a blood mage" to "BLOOD MAGIC IS THE WORST FOREVER" between awakening and da2? (my thought was that it's mostly justice, his experience with the blackmarsh witch being all the reason he needs, but he doesn't have anything to say to a blood mage warden so it's hard to say for certain)

DRAGON AGE ORIGINS - SKIN TINT TALLY by Dalish-ious - 0 views

  •
Well. This was one hell of a project. One I am happy to consider done, as it has wreaked havoc on my wrist and eyes. I'd like to thank Mr. Robot and X-Men: TAS for keeping me entertained while I work at this, as well as @jessicapendragon for the prompt. USAGE Anyone is free to use this information, but I would very much appreciate that if you do, you @ me. I'm not exaggerating when I say I've worked at this over a period of months. If someone demands proof that say, Tamlen is a MOC, show them. If someone demands proof that there are Black dwarves, show them. If someone demands proof that a character was whitewashed from one game to another, show them. I believe in the sharing of information, and now no one needs the DA Toolset to prove these things to these people. At least regarding DA:O. HOW INFORMATION WAS COLLECTED When BioWare released the Dragon Age Toolset, they also shared the source .mrh files for all the head morphs in the game. This made things faster than having to extract the .mor files from the game and open and close all the lines for each one. I went through every single .mrh file and recorded the skin tint used in an Excel workbook. I then counted and added everything up, and made graphs from that.

The Awiergan Scrolls - 0 views

Poking at the Awiergan Scrolls mission in DA2. tl;dr version: spirits divided into separate aspects is a running theme in this series. So once upon a time, a spirit was divided into three pieces 'in prevention.' But whatever it was meant to prevent, those three pieces themselves were still able to cause havoc.

Making a timeline of Anders' escapes. This is 90% quoting WOT2, but I'm breaking it down for my own reference purposes.

Can Blood Magic Remove the Taint? - 0 views

  •
So, actually, re: that Merrill post, there are several instances of the Taint being either removed completely or heavily mitigated, and there's a pattern to it, to say the least. (Last Flight spoilers)

important facts about Philliam, a Bard! from The World of Thedas, Vol. 2 - 0 views

  •
His full pen name is, actually, "Philliam, a Bard!". The exclamation point is part of the pen name, and he gets pissy if you drop it. He's like the Buzzfeed of Thedas, editing up important articles and scholarly works for mass consumption by taking out all the boring parts and leaving mostly just the sex and violence. [...]

Wynne's Templar Lover; Rhys's Father - 1 views

We don't really know much about who this man was. Wynne doesn't say much about him. The only narrative we really have in the game about Wynne's pregnancy is her very brief account:

Imshael and Fen'Harel - 0 views

  •
So… I am sure I'm not the first to notice this, but I find it a little interesting that Imshael decides to spare the children of Clan Virnehn. It's very similar to the story we hear about the Slow Arrow. Like, almost identical. Fen'Harel is summoned to kill a great beast and protect the village. He does so, but only after he allows the beast to kill everyone in the village except the children, thereby fulfilling his promise. Imshael is summoned to make a keystone, which he does, but then tricks and kills the majority of the clan, except the children. In both cases, Fen'Harel and Imshael fulfill their bargain, but twist the deal.

Starkhaven is not Scotland. - 0 views

  •
I get very frustrated with the people who hear the Starkhaven accent (Scottish in the games) and assume this must mean that Starkhaven = Scotland, that everyone is wearing kilts, and that bagpipes sound in the streets. I have a few different reasons for this, but the main one is this: It Doesn't Make Sense

Tyrdda Bright-Axe was called across the sea - 0 views

  •
Anonymous asked: Are we sure the Alamarri were being called across the sea to Tevinter? Or beyond Tevinter across the Volca Sea? The Saga of Tyrdda Bright-Axe only mentions the Waking Sea. "Cross the Waking, eat the gilded city's fill." That doesn't rule out crossing the Volca Sea too - there's nothing that states how far north they were meant to go, and Tevinter doesn't actually exist at this point, the specific destination is left vague - but I don't have any thoughts on what lies across the Volca Sea. I'm more interested in the idea that this is the same call the Tevinter magisters heard, but over a thousand years earlier.

About Elgar'nan, "Sun's-death," and the Titans. - 0 views

  •
Most of the time, "the sun" seems to be a metaphor for spirit or the Fade. They're pretty much the same elvish word - "elgar" is used for spirit, "elgara" for sun. And the Dalish story of Elgar'nan's creation sounds like the Fade meeting the physical world.

A searchable copy of the(almost?) full script of Dragon age Inquisition - 1 views

  •
If anyone's interested here is a searchable copy of the(almost?) full script of Dragon age Inquisition that someone's pulled directly from the game files and uploaded. It should be useful for anyone looking to find snippets of dialogue for meta and such, esp. if you play on console, or aren't tech savvy enough to go through the game files for it. Edit: This isn't actually the full script, it's missing the dialogue from the cutscenes, but it covers every other conversation/banter/ambient piece of dialogue in the game so it's still p useful.

I've taken all dialog listed here and added a few more. (Thanks to justjasper for the link!) I will be going through and recording all of them, crossing them out as I go and linking to them as they are posted. If you see anything missing or if there's a line of dialog you just want to see recorded let me know and I'll add it to the list! I'll be using this tag if you want to go through and see everything that has been posted so far.

The Qunari Compound in Act 3 - 0 views

  •
You know how I was rambling about how DA2's Qunari plotline is all about Chantry control the other day? Playing through Act 3 now, I'm just now noticing what happened to the old Qunari compound.
