Not that long ago, academicians were often cautious about airing the ethical dilemmas they faced in their research and academic work, but that environment is changing today. Psychologists in academe are more likely to seek out the advice of their colleagues on issues ranging from supervising graduate students to how to handle sensitive research data, says George Mason University psychologist June Tangney, PhD.

National Standards for High School Psychology Curricula - 0 views

  •
I am comparing and contrasting the IB and APA National Standards for High School Curriculum, looking for differences, similarities, and possible overlap. The following is the APA description attached to this URL: "In addition to setting forth learning objectives for high school psychology students, this document provides guidance for teaching based on active learning principles and recommendations for student learning assessment. This document is constructed to guide curriculum decisions by providing content and performance standards to guide teachers in designing instruction."

I personally still asked my students to have a book to write down their notes by hand. Mostly to avoid the distraction of using laptop. Good to know that there's more good in doing so. Thanks for sharing.

This could actually be a study that students can replicate; I tried to find the original article, but my data base access does not have it; here is the abstract: http://pss.sagepub.com/content/25/6/1159

Hi Marcus, I start the year off with note taking and get students to research the research on using technology over hand written notes. One of my students last year used Cunningham and Stanovich's study for their IA which was titled 'is the pen mightier than the keyboard'? I like this one, something new:0), Best regards, Yvette

Why Does Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy Work? - 1 views

  •
Mindful meditation helps treat depression Clinical psychologists have developed an impressive array of empirically supported treatments over the past several decades. While these new treatments have brought relief to many people, a stubborn scientific problem persists. I refer to the fact that psychologists don't understand, and therefore can't explain, how or why any of these treatments work.
