Seven Tools for Creating Data Visualizations This morning I received an email asking me for some tools for creating data visualizations. Here are seven tools that students can use to build data visualizations.

I want my students to be sceptics. I believe that in the present age scepticism is more important than ever. Easy access to information, ease of publishing, scams and confidence tricksters combine to create a climate where blind trust is dangerous for our security, our finances and our knowledge bases. Interesting post on ISTE.org regarding the integration of worksheets and Augmented Reality. I could really see this being a method teachers can check for student understanding by having the students create their own worksheets following this approach.

Have students provide work via Google form and use an add-on to create mail merge response back to them. Each day submitted can be added to a different sheet.

Why might it be that our students struggle with independence? Maybe it comes from the language moves we make. As with the language of thinking, being deliberate with our choices can help us to create a classroom culture where students demonstrate independence and initiative.
