Concept lessons will use Google Earth to present math topics, such as rates or scientific notation in unique ways. Project-Based Learning activities will include lessons that will require the collaborative efforts of students in pairs or groups. These lessons may be of a longer duration and require additional outsource materials. Measurement lessons will make extensive use of the ruler tool in Google Earth to accomplish problem solving activities. Exploratory lessons will follow non-traditional math topics such as fractals, topology, or modern geometry.

"Reverse Instruction"  Flipping learning for Schools of the Future.  New trend is to recorde lesson (lecture) for viewing outside of school.  Use school time for lesson activity, projects, etc.

This activity uses the concept of identifying main idea in informational text to create magazine covers. The purpose is comprehension can be enhanced when readers actively relate the ideas presented in print to their own knowledge and experiences and craft visual representations to make meaning.

Using GPS and Geocaching in the core curriculum has become a powerful tool in enhancing student understanding of geography, scientific inquiry, math concepts, physical education, problem solving, and language arts. Students in this picture are mapping a local park. It was an easy 5 minute walk to the park. The teacher planned out waypoints for the student to log as part of a larger introduction to how GPS units work.

A little self-indulgent, however I'm interested in seeing what other people do with their classes. This is the montage of our recent medieval tournament. We also do an archaeological dig and other historical re-enactments. If anyone else has footage, images or descriptions of activities or re-enactments they do with their classes I'd be really interested to see them. And steal their ideas.
