  • Mr Hwang, 87, once a close confidant of North Korean leader Kim Jong-il, defected to the South in 1997. Pyongyang’s official government website had recently threatened him with death. The alleged plot to kill Mr Hwang was uncovered when the two men, named by the Yonhap news agency as Kim and Tong, crossed into South Korea from Thailand earlier this year, posing as defectors themselves. They were questioned by South Korean officials during the debriefing sessions that await all North Korean refugees who make it to Seoul. A unnamed senior official at Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office told reporters they had said their orders were to “slit the betrayer’s throat”, the Associated Press news agency reports.

      Mintha Trockij-ról lenne szó. A magas rangú hivatalnok azután hagyta el hazáját, hogy megtapasztalta a 90'-es években történt hatalmas éhínséget. Az észak-koreai kormány megfenyegette, majd bérgyilkosokat küldött rá, de azok lebuktak. Mr Hwang azóta rendőri őrizetben él egy ismeretlen helyszínen.

  • two reasons which could explain the easing-of the tension. The first reason was that since 1953, both the United States and the Soviet Union possessed hydrogen bombs. Both sides realized that the use of these destructive weapons in war would destroy each other. Thus they were determined to improve their relations in order to avoid direct military clash. The second reason was that since 1954, the bonds between the 'Super Powers' and their 'satellites' began to slacken. As their 'satellites' did not fully support their leader - the United States and the Soviet Union,  it made political sense for the two Super-Powers to improve their relations.

  • Opened in 1932, the history of the Broadway Theatre stretches back to the mid 1920s. Up until 1924 the current site was occupied by a Fire Station which was relocated to Ladywell, from where it still operates to this day.
  • Silent movie projectors were ordered but in 1929, Al Jolson’s famous ‘Jazz Singer’ saw the first commercial sound on film presentation revolutionise cinema.
  • During the 1930s up to the Second World War, the building was primarily used by local organisations, the Utopians being joined by the Eldorado and Lewisham Operatic Societies.

Creation, through CITAM, of a platform (AlmaChannel) belonging to the University of Bologna for the management of e-learning activities and running of training courses Creation of a training course on the problems of e-learning addressed to lecturers, PhD students, people with a research grant, and technical personnel of the University Participation in announcements and research competitions on e-learning subjects on a regional, national and European level Funding of certain courses (Masters, First or Second Level Degree Courses, high education initiatives) to be carried out using "blended learning" o "full distance learning" techniques in order to experiment prototypes and perfect teaching-methodological models that will become assets for the entire University.

  • ICT can help the elderly to improve their quality of life, stay healthier, live independently for longer and remain active at work or in their community. A wide range of services could be offered to address daily needs such as: • Social communication: easy and continuous access to phone and video conversations, overcoming social isolation;• Daily shopping: easy ordering of goods online for home delivery;• Safety: security systems to lock/unlock entrance doors and windows or to check for water and/or gas leaks, etc or installation of user friendly interfaces for domestic and other appliances;• Health: telemedicine from home, wearable systems for monitoring and diagnosis of individuals with a chronic disease (such as heart disease and diabetes). In many EU countries where over half of people aged 65+ live alone, such technologies can significantly extend the time that elderly people live independently in their own house, while at the same time avoid costs for hospitalisation and provide a basis for additional applications in the future (robotics, embedded systems, biosensors, etc...).
