People, particularly teenagers, have an almost compulsive reaction to open text messages when their phones beep or buzz. So if you want to quickly deliver an important message to student or parent today, sending a text message is the best way to do it. Managing a list of cell phone numbers can be a daunting task.

I love love love this site freetech4teachers.com and today just got a twitter alert about using group texting programs. Will be looking at inviting my parents and students to opt in, will be exploring both Class Parrot and Kikutext this weekend. Anyone have any experience with either program? This will be the first step at upping the communication between families and the classroom.

The site includes lesson plans geared at different levels of expertise - beginner, intermediate and advanced- as well as training videos that walk through different strategies for subjects like using Creative Commons and Google maps.
