Digital Age PBL

Upper Division students prepared for a talkshow exhibition about the experience of slavery and civil war through various viewpoints. Students were required to compare an aspect of slavery/civil war in America and in a Spanish-speaking country. For example, a student had to compare "life under slavery" in both America and Brazil.

Before we get into the *Here are The big buzz word: power of PBL*, this is a good time to remind you that I'm a special education teacher in an K-5 elementary building. I work with a wide variety of students with disabilities (learning and nonspecific) in their classes, my resource room, small group, and one-to-one.

Great example of PBL to teach exponential functions.

This is a good resource to look at for PBL and history. Students select a topic based around a broad theme and they are able to compete against students locally, state, and nationwide.

Technology integration is the use of technology resources -- computers, mobile devices like smartphones and tablets, digital cameras, social media platforms and networks, software applications, the Internet, etc. -- in daily classroom practices, and in the management of a school.

This is a PBL designed for Kindergarten, but could be adapted for any elementary grade. It is a great launching pad for some really authentic learning!

Title Immigrants: On the Move with the American Slide Project Idea: The challenge to students is that they must evaluate how immigrants have been influenced by the American culture and how the American culture has been shaped by immigrants.

Project-based learning continues to be misinterpreted as a single teaching strategy rather than as a set of design principles that allow us to introduce the philosophy of inquiry into education in an intelligent and grounded way.
