Arizona statutory rape victim forced to pay child support - 7 views

  •
Mainly talks about rare instances that happen and a father ends up paying child support. Goes into different examples of these kinds of cases from other states. Also, mentions how Arizona pursue child support cases and treats them differently from custody arrangements.

Wow...I don't agree that a female rape victim should be forced to share custody or receive child support from her assailant it should be her right as the victim. But a male victim, this is new to me. However, I agree if he is a victim she should be charged and he should have a choice. Charges should have been made against her back when it happened or they should do the math and still charge her. As for the child it's sad but if he doesn't want to be apart of her life because he wants nothing to do with his assailant, The assailant is at fault. I don't think I would want my son to have to be involved with a women who raped him because a child was conceived during her criminal act. It's sad because then the child suffers. Mixed feelings on this subject.

This whole article is disturbing on so many levels. First of all he was 14 years old but that does not change the fact that he is a parent and has responsibilities just based on that alone. BUT if the courts are going to recognize the fact that is was a rape why do they not charge the mother? I say he takes her to court for custody and makes her pay child support. The poor child can not win either way.
  •
This is appalling. The woman should be charged. Its sad that many look away when its a male that is a rape victim. They deserve to get justice and not get charged for child support. The victim should have a say on what they want if they want to be involved or not, but I feel like they shouldn't have to deal with their rapist.
  •
Wow this is another disturbing article! The fact of the matter is that men alone have it very very hard when it comes to their rights as fathers. And in instances like this, even harder. The fact that he got served with papers years later is very sad. That mother clearly just wants to collect money. But what would she even tell her daughter about her dad? That she had sex with a 14 year old boy?? This is so disturbing and there should be laws in place for situations like this and for fathers in general.

Reading this this article i learn that child trafficking and sexual exploitation in the United States have a really high number of victims. This is a very dangerous business how they called it. Thousand of people will continued suffering because of this crime.
  •
This article is so heartbreaking, yet it's so important for the public to be informed on this topic. The fact that most of the child pornography comes from the United States is disgusting and hard to acknowledge, but it's an important fact to understand. So many children are exploited every year, and hopefully, the more people realize this and educate and involve themselves on the subject, the likelihood of children being trafficked and exploited will decrease.
  •
This is a very eye opening article. It is tragic to know the United States is the main consumer of child pornography. How can this be so pervasive in our society? What can be done to stop the trafficking of such lurid content? A top priority for our government should be to eradicate child pornography in the U.S.
  •
This article is very eye opening to me. We often see children in other countries suffering and we want to find a way to help then. Reading this article I discovered that the united states is the number one consumer and producer for child abuse. This article makes me very aware of the negative things americans do that I was blinded to.
  •
I knew sex trafficking is pretty much everywhere to date, but I had no idea that the United States accounts for 50% of it. This article is so sad to read because of the reality of it. There definitely needs to be a solution to all of this, you would think that with today's technology and such that we could figure out how to stop this once and for all.
  •
This is a topic that, despite its importance, remains unspoken, which is utterly tragic. It was shocking to read that the United States creates the majority of child pornography seeing as nothing is being done despite having so much power. Although this topic is difficult to discuss due to its ubiquitous and unsettling nature, it needs to be addressed and acted upon in order to be capable of abolishing it. As a country, the United States ought to openly discuss this topic and utilize its unity to end the exploitation of children.

I think that it is interesting that slavery still exists. This article explains that people do not acknowledge it. It makes me sad that 12 year olds are being trafficked.

Child Sex Trafficking - 2 views

This article is about how prevelant child sex trafficking is in the US. 100,000 a year to be exact. It is a 9.8 billion dollar industry

The market for sex trafficking is in the billions yet, I cannot recall any coverage on the capture and arrest of a sex trafficking ring. It would be helpful to know what progress has been made in curtailing the practice of selling children for sex. I can think of several arrests in the news for smuggling and selling drugs. It bothers me that something this impactful to innocent lives and so detrimental to society does not appear to have any signs of slowing down.
  •
Nearly half of the people captured for human trafficking are children. If children ever make it out of human trafficking, they have severe physical and mental health issues.
  •
Sex trafficking has been such a devastating thing that has yet to decline over the years. It seems as if the more time goes on, the numbers increase and not the other way around. 100,000 lives to be taken a year is so saddening. It is such a shame that there is no way even with technology today to decrease these numbers.

Bullying exists everywhere! I like this article because it provides ways for an anti-bullying environment. At some point in time everyone has whiteness someone being bullied, has been bullied personally, or has been the bully. Its a tragic subject that can lead individuals to suicidal attempts and depression. How long will it take before people realize this matter is crucial especially in educational environments, social media, and even in politics.
  •
I just found out that my wife is pregnant a week ago and this is one of my greatest concerns as a soon to be parent. No one should have to go to school and be open to abuse. Great article and I appreciated the ways that it states to make safe environments.

Bullying.....we always hear the word bullying and this is one of the most scary situation in the world. Million of people have killed themselves because of bullying. we have to stop bullying.
  •
This is such a common topic and has been for so many years. Bullying has been around for so long and now that social media is extremely popular it seems to make it worse. We have to do all we can to prevent this due to so many students committing suicide because of such extreme bullying.
  •
As a parent of a bullying victim, I feel there is much that can be fixed when dealing with this issue. the only thing you can do as a parent is talk to the administration and after that, your hands are tied. They are the ones that talk to the student and the student's parent. The only notification you get is that they had a meeting. In the meantime, your child is being retaliated against, their self-esteem continues to deteriorate and their schoolwork suffers. I wish there could be a more proactive approach. There came a time that I didn't get any communication until I sent an email to the entire school staff, Principal, and Superintendent.
  •
Its definitely an issue that far too often is overlooked. I am not a parent, and can only imagine how parents feel when their son or daughter is a victim of bullying. The issue definitely needs to be addressed, no one should have to attend school worried or concerned about how their day is going to go. It is very saddening, and disheartening.
  •
I feel like bullying has become more and more of an issue over the years. It is sad to see what is going on and I would like to see more schools implement programs to stop it.
  •
Bullying as gotten bigger over the years especially dealing with how big social media is getting. I wish school and adults would help stop this issue because it is always overlooked.

Identifying Bullying as a Social Justice Issue - 3 views

This article discusses Identity-Based Bullying and what it is. Identity-Based Bullying is a form of discrimination against others and should be stopped.

Unfortunately, bullying is a common social justice issue and there are many different types of bullying and there are many ways students, parents and school administration can help prevent bullying of others.
  •
Bullying needs to be recognized in all levels. Most people think that bullying just happens at school with children on the playground but they should realize that it can happen to adults and in all types of environments.
  •
I wrote about child abuse. I think that this is a good topic because bullying is similar to abuse. There is a victim, and a perpetrator. I also believe bullying can stem from being abused or neglected at home.
