I noticed that some of the arguments against men getting paternity leave are that the women do all of the work, so the men do not deserve it. I think this is a foolish argument because it is contradicting. If the mom does all of the hard work, why not give the father paternity leave in order to help her with the baby? The father cannot do anything about the growing baby in her stomach and all of the side effects that come with it, however, he can help feed the baby, change the baby, and put the child to sleep. It is not a vacation, it is time given to spend with their newborn child and assist in one of the most difficult phases of being a parent.

I fully support this debate. Men should be afforded the right to be a parent just as much as a mother is.

I agree, men should be able to get time off from work so they can also spend time with their new baby!

I had a conversation with a coworker recently. We didn't understand why men are not offered Paternity leave at several companies including the one I work for. I believe that men need the time to bond with their children just as much as the mother does.

I would have loved it if my husband could have taken time off from work when my children were born. Things aren't as clearly defined as they used to be. There aren't mens jobs and womens jobs. My husband helped me with all of my children, as well as working a full time job. It's up to each family to decide what works for them. We have stay at home dads now and moms who work and everything in between.

This is an interesting topic, that I haven't herd before. It should be up to the man. although the women are the ones who are actually pregnant...

I would have loved if my husband could have had paternity leave from work when I had my children. It also depends on the circumstances in the family household. Can they afford for both to be on leave?

This website is a debating website that states a question and shows you people's responses from both sides (yes or no.) It doesn't necessarily hold factual information from one person, but can give insightful opinions or facts from a lot of people to help build your own argument.

the most interesting part of this article is when it was said that food stamp recipients are ripping off taxpayers. I know that alot of people see food stamp people as freeloaders and its due to the common conception of people taking advantage of things they don't need. I don't think it is really fair to judge without being in that persons shoes.

I think welfare is needed and it's important to continue the program. I do however feel that the system needs to change to prevent those that do take advantage, sell their food stamps and cheat the system can't. Unfortunalty this ruins it for those who really need the help and are trying to make ends meet.

It is important that Americans help out fellow citizens when they are struggling but I do not think that we should allow people to remain on food stamps and government assistance indefinitely. Lets form a plan to help people find and maintain a job that will take care the that person and their family.
