The FBI's information request document describes its project as an "open source and social media alert, mapping and analysis application." The FBI believes it can obtain the contents of emails without a warrant if the email was sent or received through a third-party service despite a federal appeals court's ruling that they are unconstitutional. It's not clear how often the FBI actually applies for full warrants in practice.

The Fight Over Privacy and Secrecy in Government Investigations - 0 views

  •
The intertwined issues of privacy and secrecy will force Congress to finally deal with the world of digital information. Being such a big issues and how they are able to use such information against people in court, how was Hillary Clinton able to get off her FBI investigation? It doesn't make senseto me how they abuse this power to convict people in court, but yet our countries elite get off without so much as a fine.
  •
The FBI has exposed itself as a highly corrupted organization by allowing a politician to be above the law. The federal government ought to remove Comey from his position of power as he has said that Hillary should not be charged, although she committed a crime, and was exposed. In other words, he said she is above the law. Which no one person can be above the law in a republic, or a democracy, or any functioning country with laws.
  •
It is not okay for her to get off the hook for the investigation. If other people can't get away with crimes then why can she get away with it. Just like us she is a citizen of the united states so why is should she be treated any different?

FBI: Nearly 5X More Murders Committed With Knives Than Assault Rifles » Alex ... - 0 views

  •
Over the past 8 years, there have been obvious assaults at United States citizens second amendment right to bear arms. Guns, especially assault rifles, have received an awful lot of scrutiny for people shooting one another, however in reality shootings with assault rifles account for only 2% of homicides in the United States. Meanwhile the rifles themselves are being blamed for the unstable people wielding them. Meanwhile knives account for nearly 14% of homicides, however no one is attempting to ban knives, as it is general knowledge that they are tools, just like guns. But the media is making every attempt to make guns the villains, not the wielders.
  •
This subject has been plaguing our country for years now, and it's proven that most violent crimes don't happen with guns. Especially assault rifles, people aren't just carting around carrying around rifles everywhere committing crimes. They use what's small and readily available. Such as, knives, bats, handguns, or even just using their fist to get what they want.

Arguments roared over an FBI agent that was killed while working on a cold-case. After that, the National Rifle Association felt those kinds of fire arms should be banned. But even though assault weapons do much harm, they saw the good in having them as well. In 2004, the ban on assault weapons was not extended. Many were displeased.

Privacy: A Failed Experiment? - 1 views

  •
Is privacy real? Google records websites visited on computers to pop up ads, that's how they make their money. Privacy is seeming less like a right and more of a goal. With surveillance of the government are infringing more upon citizens privacy. Why should the government be able to view our emails when Hillary Clinton deletes all of hers and is backed by the FBI?
  •
I completely agree. I feel that privacy is a mere illusion in our society. Just because their is no paper trail, does not mean that there is no digital fingerprint. The government has always been a double-standard in how they have the power to make the rules, and yet they break them. People like Hillary just have more connections and the means to get themselves out of trouble.
  •
This was a very interesting article. It does give a lot of truths about how the goverment has gone behind our backs and gone through people's private information at times. It is not fair at all for the government to be doing something like this without reasonable suspicion and a court order.
