This article discusses a sort of "phobia" that people have of dyslexia. Many people will deny that they or their children have the disorder because of the social stigma around it. It is also unwise to diagnose very young children with dyslexia.

Parents or anyone for that matter should be mad at whoever came up with the word dyslexia. I don't think they did it to label anyone. Everything has a name. Dyslexia is simply a term to describe a learning disability. It's up to parents to help their kids with that fear by not seeing it as something scary.
