Digital Storyteller is a user friendly website that allows anyone to create a digital story. Although you have to join, it is free. There are probably more complex and flashy programs to make digital stories, but this is a great into site that allows anyone to learn to make digital stories.
Flickr is a website for storing and displaying digital imagery though it is mostly geared to photography. You can create sets of your own imagery or collect other photographer's photos in galleries. Has many other uses as well. Too numerous to list here.
