Google's New HTML5 Chrome Apps For Gmail, Calendar And Docs Give Users Offline Access |... - 0 views

  •
As we reported at Google I/O in May, Google has been working on offline versions of their three most popular apps: Gmail, Google Calendar, and Google Docs. Google previously offered offline access for Gmail, Calendar, and Docs but leveraged Gears. But Gears is no longer being supported by Google as Chrome gains many of the same features via HTML5. And offline-acces functionality was limited. Today, Google is announcing that it has rebuilt offline access for these applications, in the form of a HTML5 Chrome web app. Gmail offline will be available today, and offline for Google Calendar and Google Docs will be rolling out over the next week, starting today.

Angry Birds in the Physics Classroom | Action-Reaction - 0 views

  •
I recently blogged that you can now play Angry Birds in your web browser. This opens up all sorts of video analysis possibilities for physics lessons and assessment. Students can easily make their own videos or you can pre-record your own. Videos can be recorded using Jing, Screencast-O-Matic, or Camtasia Studio. Analysis can be done in Logger Pro or Tracker.

Fake websites - Internet literacy « Rhondda's Reflections - wandering around ... - 0 views

I have started to think about how to help students understand the importance of critically evaluating the information on-line. I have found a few sites over the years and after the year 8 immersion days I believe that it is time to come up with some lessons that teachers can use. There have been some very good posts about this topic already. Langwitches post "Don't Believe Everything You See Online" being one.

Edina Technology Integration: Flipping Your Classroom Without Making Your Students Dizzy! - 1 views

  •
There has been a lot of press both locally and nationally, and punditry pro and con lately around "flipping" instruction. "Flipping" is when you create video of your lecture or a demonstration that you would normally do in class, and then post the video for students to watch as homework at home. Proponents point out that this then allows the teacher to either complete activities that normally would be done as homework in class with the support of the teacher, or it allows for hands on activities to take place in the classroom with facilitation from the teacher.
