"MyKidsBank artificial banks are used to assist in the education of personal money management. Each artificial online bank operates similar to a real online bank through a web browser on the internet. The person who signs up for a virtual bank has full control and becomes the banker. Classroom teachers use the service to assist in their classroom economy. Parents also find the service helpful in managing allowance for their children. Each bank can be configured for local country currency symbols and time zones. "

"While educators know that math is all around us, sometimes students have a difficult time grasping its impact on our every day activities. Though the apps listed below may not inherently scream proportions, rate, sequences, and percentages, they very easily lend themselves to providing creative and engaging connections to real world problem-solving activities. Some of the apps can be used as hooks and others to provide data for further problem-solving or to spark discussion. "

Free Technology for Teachers: The Federal Budget Puzzle - Interactive Challenge - 0 views
-
Turn on any cable news network talk show and you'll hear plenty of pundits putting forth their ideas for fixing the federal budget. But which ideas or combinations of ideas will work best is hard (impossible?) to determine. So that you can try your hand and fixing the federal budget The New York Times offers an interactive budget puzzle. Budget Puzzle: You Fix the Budget presents users with the projected budget shortfalls of 2015 and 2030. Users then have to make selections from a long list of budget cuts and or tax increases to close the shortfalls. One way that the Budget Puzzle could be used in a classroom is to have students try various combinations of cuts and tax increases to close the budget shortfalls. After developing what they think are the best solutions you can have students debate the merits of each other's plans.

Rader's NUMBERNUT.COM - 0 views

NUMBERNUT.COM is a new site developed by Andrew Rader Studios. We received so many requests for math information that we wanted to make a small site that would introduce math basics to our regular visitors. Since we are still fine-tuning the site, it will change and grow over the next few months. If you have any suggestions, please drop us a note. We have fun making our sites. We hope you have a good time while they are here (the activities are the big attraction here).
