"What does this mean? When will I use this?" If you're a math teacher, you've probably heard these questions before. We're here to help you answer them. At Mathalicious, we believe that math isn't something to learn, but a tool to learn about other things. Our mission is to help transform the way math is taught by providing you with the best, most meaningful and most relevant math content available. Our lessons are aligned to traditional state standards but, unlike most content, emphasize conceptual understanding through engaging real-world applications. What does this mean for you and your students? It means you can use linear equations to pick the right cell phone plan, and percents to get healthier. It means you can use proportions to compare the iPhone and the iPad, and explore whether the Olympics are fair. Our approach means that you as a teacher can foster real conversations, real learning about topics that students really care about. And best of all, Mathalicious means that math can be…fun again."

GET THE MATH is a convergent media project designed to help middle and high school students develop algebraic thinking skills for solving real world problems. Drawing on conventions of popular reality TV shows, video segments begin with profiles of young professionals, who then pose challenges connected to their jobs to two teams of teens. At that point viewers are encouraged to try the challenges themselves using interactive tools provided on the GET THE MATH website, before returning to the video to see the teams' solutions. Students can further explore the same algebra concepts through additional interactive challenges on the website.

"In Teaching Kids Real Math With Computers Conrad Wolfram claims that the hand calculations most math curricula requires is irrelevant to most real world mathematics applications. Wolfram argues that students should instead be taught to apply mathematics to computer programming. Wolfram points out that problems aren't dumbed-down by computers and, in fact, can be made more challenging by computer programming. Wolfram also claims that the real problem with current mathematics instruction is that "we have dumbed-down" problems. I can't say that I agree with everything Wolfram says, but he will make you think about about instruction. Watch the video below."

The idea behind Maths is Fun is to offer mathematics content as well as some fun and combining the two wherever possible. Mostly basic content on here, but most basic math content can be integrated into more complex secondary mathematics subjects.

Math Snacks are short animations and mini-games designed to help learners "get it". Each snack presents a mathematical concept, particularly those addressed in grades 6, 7 and 8. Ideal for use in a classroom or on your own, they can even be placed on mobile devices for "homework". The accompanying print materials can assist learners in applying their conceptual understanding to math problems.

Step 1.) Think you're good at math? Prove it to the most famous mathematical thinkers in history. In Genius Boxing, you must defeat Albert Einstein, Pythagoras, Galileo, Bill Gates, Leonardo da Vinci, Nicholas Coperniucs, Archimedes, and Sir Isaac Newton in boxing using your math skills. Step 2.) Look at the number equation that appears at the bottom of the screen. Click on , or = to make the number equation true. Be careful though, each round gets much harder!

NUMBERNUT.COM is a new site developed by Andrew Rader Studios. We received so many requests for math information that we wanted to make a small site that would introduce math basics to our regular visitors.
