Grandpa Tucker's Rhymes and Tales feature a collection of short, silly poems and online humorous stories written in verse for elementary school kids. the site also offers holiday poems and tips and materials for teaching poetry in the rhyme time fun section. Teachers can print out the poetry to use in their own classrooms.

Encyclopedia of the Earth an electronic reference about the Earth, its natural environmetns, and their interaction with society. It is a free, fully searchable collection of articles written by scholars, professionals, educators, and experts who collaborate and review each other's work. The articles are written in non-technical language and are useful to students, educators, scholars, and professionals, as well as to the general public.

Wikimedia commons provides pictures, sounds, and videos that can be used provided the user follows the commons licensing agreement. This is like creative commons.

Turning Technologies turning point anywhere download. This free download will allow users of turning point systems to use the clickers in any classroom.

Both of these presentations are excellent. If you have whiteboard or clickers in your school or use promethean software you will learn so much from Deb Pickerings presentation. I recommend that everyone take time to review these archived presentations.

Thinking about numbers using frames of 5 can be a helpful way to learn basic number facts. The four games that can be played with this applet help to develop counting and addition skills. Instructions Choose one of the four games that can be played with this applet: How Many: Identify how many items or empty squares there are. Build: Drag a certain number of items to the frame. Fill: Determine how many items are needed to fill the remaining squares. Add: Drag items to complete addition problems. Choosing Play All from the Games menu will randomize which of the four games is played.

The purpose of this resource is to provide "Just in Time" training through an online interface for K-12 educators based on the National Eductional Technology Standards for Teachers (NETS-T). These standards are the basic technology skills every educator should prossess. In the process, educators will develop their own skills and discuver what studetns need in order to meet the NETS for Students.

This site is really nice. Many of the things we talked about in the grad class are covered here but the really nice thing about this site is that it take the NETS-T that we used and makes a connection to Marzano's 9 (Classroom Instruction that Works) and 21 things. It is really interesting. On the home page check out the two downloads of 21things and Marzano. On the right if you click on any of those categories, tools that can be used are presented. This is definitely one you will want to save in your own diigo library.
