Since the attack on the Bardo museum 3,000 holidays cancellations have been reported, reservations have decreased 60 percent. Seven cruise lines have dropped Tunis from their itineraries and some charter airlines flying in Russian, Czech and Polish tourists have already cancelled flights. Tourism is a huge part of Tunisia's economy. Last year tourists topped 6 million, 2010 tourism industry represented 17 percent of GDP.

In 2011 the number of tourists dropped by a third, by 2013 Tunisia was showing signs of a comeback, with income from tourism. The total contribution of the industry to Tunisia's economy was 15.2 percent of its gross domestic product. With the attack on the museum it was a major setback to the growth and promise of tourism and not just in Tunisia.

Egypt's tourism sector has plumeted since the Russian airplane crashed due to an alleged ISIS bombing on the plane. British and Russian planes had then placed a ban on all flight to Egypt, which is about 70% of tourism in Egypt. Egypt has now created a campaign called "This is Egypt" to try and revamp its tourism sector.

The attack was shocking and like I said in the article it has damaged the country's tourism industry which is a huge part of Tunisia's economy. The bigger picture of this article is the neighboring states of Tunisia. Libya is in a worse state where a lot of terrorist attacks are going on or the terrorists are coming from Libya into Tunisia. Tunisia can never have true security until Libya's situation is addressed.

Egypt is still saying it was not terrorism but it is known that a worker might have a link to a cousin who joined the Islamic State. This is an issue because tourism is one of Egypt's main economic contributors, but since the attack no foreigners from Europe or Russia have been able to travel there.
