This Guardian article talks about the details of the ceasefire between Hamas and Israel brokered by Egypt on August 26th, 2014. This article also notes the unaddressed issues that many are said to believe may result in further conflict later.

This article focuses mainly on statistics and what is common following King Abdullah reign in regards to women's rights. One point the article makes is the inability for women, even educated women, in Saudi Arabia to find jobs. Of the jobs women do possess a very small percentage is held in political careers.

Several articles to date have suggested that Saudi Arabia is leery about decreasing production because of the effects of the 1973 oil crisis. This article provides a brief history of the crisis and some of the consequences and results of the crisis.

In this Electronic Intifada article, the blatant racism against all Arabs during the Israeli elections is highlighted and examined. Beginning with the motion to amend voting rules, and ending with Netanyahu's highly charged statement, this article points out the rampant hatred exhibited to a group of people making up 20% of Israel's population.

In this Times of Israel article, a statement made by South Africa's ruling party, the ANC, is examined. Made in protest to a planned meeting of the South African Jewish Board of Deputies, the ANC's statement accused Israel of being a state founded in apartheid. More dramatically, the article references a quote made by the ANC where they liken Israel's most recent attack on Gaza to the Nazis.

This article discusses women's health rights and their misconceptions. According to this article it is a misconception that women have to obtain permission from their legal guardian to receive medical treatment. Women have the right to health care but are unaware of this right. Many doctors are also unaware of this right or fear the possible repercussions from the guardian if they perform a procedure without consent.

In this Star article, the history of the two-state deal, and its morphing into a one-state deal, is highlighted and outlined. As the article states, the political leaders continue to grow more harsh with each other, while the people of the nations desire for a greater peace continues to rise.

The question asked is, "Does the March 18 Tunis attack signal that Tunisia will be the next Arab Spring state to be swallowed by violence and repression?" The answer is no. The attack was shocking and like I said in the article it has damaged the country's tourism industry which is a huge part of Tunisia's economy. The bigger picture of this article is the neighboring states of Tunisia. Libya is in a worse state where a lot of terrorist attacks are going on or the terrorists are coming from Libya into Tunisia. Tunisia can never have true security until Libya's situation is addressed.

This article is definitely an interesting read. It talks about a network of travelers from Walsall that are now part of ISIS. I think that we really need to better understand why people in Western countries feel the urge to leave everything they have and go live under Islamic rule in Syria. There has to be some sort of brainwashing involved because this article shows one of the men having claimed not to be murderous, and that he just wants to "live under Islamic law and help the oppressed amongst us."

This article also talks about the problems Syrian children face regarding education. International laws about "schools remain out of conflict" has gone ignored for a long time. Public Schools are overstretched in neighboring countries due to extra children in schools. The most interesting part of this article is the video which goes into more details about the growth of education in the last four years. 

This article compares human trafficking to slavery and gives a stance not typical to my other articles. The author supports the notion of "guest workers" and says if it were known as slavery, then the host country and the respective home country would both be an accomplice to the crime. 

A New York Times article talking about the differences as far as legal terms between a truce, a cease-fire, and an armistice. I think that it's an excellent article to include because there's a lot of mixing and matching of these three terms by media sources when in actuality they are very different.

A Russia today article talking about the possible cease fire and reiterating Russia's firm stance against IS, ISIS/ISIL, Al Nusra etc. the article then talks about Turkey's continued shelling despite the peace talks.

The US and Russia have announced that a cease fire will take place on February 27 at midnight, excluding IS and other terrorist organizations. Because the first cease fire was a failure, there is a lot of skepticism surrounding this second effort. 

A BBC article talking about the US and Russia brokered truce that is supposed to start this weekend. The article also includes a fantastic map created by the BBC to show the zones of control and where various airstrikes have been taking place. While this doesn't have anything to do with the arms involved in Syrian conflict I think this is too significant to ignore this week and therefore I have dedicated my tags to it.

An interesting article about "dozens of Russian generals" being killed in Syria. I am very curious about this article because it comes from "The Jerusalem Post." From what I recall, Israel's relations with Syria are not the best. This brings me to question why no other news outlet has published such news, and how "The Jerusalem Post" is so well informed about the happenings in Syria.

An article from the firm's blog talking about World War II weapons being used in the Syrian Civil War. I found both the article and accompanying video very interesting. Besides showing a bunch of very old weapons being used and the essentially finding new life in this conflict, it also shows a government stockpile seized by rebels full of Stg 44s (assault rifles from Nazi Germany). For me this raises the question of how did they get there?

Awesome article about the recent Russian bombing of Syria and how it affects the big picture. This article has some time-lapse maps with territories highlighted on it. It is very helpful in better understanding how current events are affecting the territories being controlled.

This article states that Russia and Iran have been changing the situation in Syria according to their own agendas. It is in Russia and Iran's interests to maintain Assad's rule in Syria. Consequently, the article states that the west should get involved before Russia and Iran have done too much.

This article highlights how the UNICEF is attempting to care for Refugee children. This article specifically focuses on Za'atari which is located in Jordan. It looks at the factors which negatively affect the children, the role of the teachers, and the steps to resolve the issues.

Article is about Desmond Nji Antanga of Cameroon Bamenda spreading the awareness of HIV. The article also discusses Ahmed Taha Aboushady, who is from Egypt. Ahmed is also passionate about sexual and reproductive health services rights (SRHR). He fights gender based violence and is a leader at the Anti-Sexual Harassment Task Force of Egypt.
