This article is explaining how the author believes that the internet is now the most powerful tool in the classroom today. The author argues that teachers must give up some of their power in the classroom and allow students to take more control of their own education through the opportunities the internet offers. She does make the point that teachers will still have a pivotal role in the classroom even with all the new technology.

This article looks at two different structures in place at different school systems to investigate and introduce new technology into the classroom. In the first example, the school district has invested in a full time administrator whose job it is to find new technologies and uses in the classroom and then provide the information to the teachers. The second case study involves a more traditional approach where the classroom teacher collaborated with other teachers and developed an program in Kindergarten through 3rd grade to introduce the children into inquiry into technology by dismantling robots and other forms of technology, solely to awaken a sense of discovery within the students.

More and more school districts are hiring integration specialists/technology coaches/21st Century Learning Coaches. Both case studies reveal important ideas for how technology can and should be used.

This is a great article that shows how youth today need more physical games that utilize technology to be more active. The older generation may see technology in gym as counterproductive, but studies are showing that more students benefit from the options presented with gym tech. Like all classes, Physical Education can wrap more people in with more technological options.

Technology such as ipads open new channels for sharing art. Programs allow students to try different methods and see for themselves (at their own speed) step by step instructions. It also allows the art teacher to mix traditional and new methods of instructions.

I wrote down some of these apps to share with the art teacher in my building. This is a great example of a teacher finding ways to use technology and acquire it for her classroom.

This is a 2013 article by M. Soobik from the Journal of Technology Education. It focuses on Technology Education teachers' opinions on the physical learning environment of Technology Education and compares and analyses the changes in the physical learning environment of Technology Education. The article found that the physical learning environment is important to the overall success of the students ability to learn and fully utilize modern technology.

This is really interesting how they researched the physical learning environment and its impact on technology.

This article outlines the benefits of using technology in the classroom. Most importantly, the article mentions that technology is essential to preparing students for successful futures. While technology cannot totally replace traditional learning methods, a classroom should be a blend of traditional and technological learning.

This article speaks about all the educational data that is being collected but not used. Virginia has created an app to make that information accessible to parents. This allows them to use the data to choose which school they want to send their children to. I think all states should create an app like this to make sure data is being utilized and also to bring light to the schools who need more help.

Although the cost of an education has nearly tripled per student in the last 40 years, test scores have remained unchanged. There is an ed tech revolution happening in politics, teacher evaluations, and test scores. This article examines what this ed tech revolution will look like both in school and at home over the next 15 years.

The writer listed some great resources throughout the article. I'm curious to see if any of his predictions will come true.

This article makes the point that we as educators need to use technology as the teaching tool it is, and NOT let our students (or ourselves) get into the habit of taking information for granted. We need to work to teach accurate and evolving tech habits and learn together by doing--not by copying and pasting. This article also seeks to bring this collaboration of learning tech in the classroom as a human interaction network where we can promote interaction--not isolation.

This is a Blog website about Dyslexia, I've been following it for about 3 months. The site has a lot of information about what dyslexia, is and what a person with dyslexia go through.

New Technology teaching aids are great for the classroom. The problems is that when kids are using these technologies they are not always doing what is expected of them. They may be surfing the internet or texting a friend when they should be researching for a project.

I'm glad they pointed out some of the pitfalls to technology in education. We need to be aware of both positive and negative aspects of technology in order to make it useful to our own programs and students.

In this article, the author reflects on some of the challenges he faced while trying to introduce technology into his classroom. He found that he and the students were becoming frustrated and disengaged during the process and technology ended up hindering the learning process. That all ended when the teacher found Google Apps.

Philip Cotton was one of the first teacher in the UK to use 3D printing in the classroom. He talks about its uses in the classroom and the necessity for students to learn the technology now so that they are prepared for future careers that haven't even been invented yet. This article gives real life examples of 3D printings classroom applications, as well as highlighting safety concerns and software needs.

In this article, Bill Tolley describes what blended learning is and what it might look like in a classroom. It discusses how teachers can combine face-to-face learning with online learning and why it is necessary in the 21st century to do so. It talks about the shift from teacher as gatekeeper to coach/tutor for students as we move toward a more democratic learning style that incorporates technology.

Nice find on blended learning. The state of Nebraska is investing a lot in the idea of blended learning and supporting blended classrooms.
