Weebly free web site builder - 0 views

Although Weebly is not simply a repository for royalty-free images, I thought it worth pointing out that it has a rich bank of free photos and images that can be searched and uploaded to your web site. Of course, when you search you have to be sure to click the "free" tab which is behind the photos that come up initially. As for educational uses, I use free images from Weebly on my media center site regularly, and whenever students are creating web sites as their "learning artifacts," Weebly is a great way to do it- this can apply for ELA, Science, Social Studies, or whatever subject. Another thing I like about the free image bank at Weebly is that when you choose and upload one of the images, the proper attribution automatically appears at the bottom of your web page. Brilliant!

Photo Everywhere - 1 views

PHOTO EVERYWHERE: You're asking how can these guys give their photos away for free? Are they ripped off from some else? WHATS THE CATCH??? Yes, they are FREE! - No, they are not ripped off! - This site is funded through the advertising on each page but we can only support our bandwidth fees while you help us by giving due credit (with a weblink or text attribution) where you use our images. For details please read the full terms. If you don't want or can't credit the site when you use the images (and we understand you don't really want a credit to photoeverywhere.co.uk on your business cards!) then there is an alternative: This site is also supported by our images being sold with a commercial license at valuestockphoto.com. If you need to use the images without a credit (attribution/web link) then you can buy a commercial licence and download any of the images found on this site from our travel stock image library at valuestockphoto.com; These images would be a great resource for science teachers of all grade levels. They offer photos from all over the world and could be used in such units like Biomes and Habits. Geography or Social Studies teachers would find this site useful when needing photos of regions around the world. For example: 6th grade studies Europe therefore the user could search photos from European regions to use in the classroom. One challenge for this site is there are so many images it does take some time to locate what you will need to use in the classroom. The website is visually pleasing and relatively easy to use. Everystockphoto is a copyright free search engine that provides users with a variety of free photos. Users do not have to signup for a membership, unless they wish to rate, tag, collect, and comment on photos. This repository will work best in a 6-12 educational setting, in several different content areas. For example, students can use the search engine to locate photos for supporting an art project.

Pictures of Animals -- Animal Photos! - 2 views

Images on this site are under creative commons and are free to use on web sites and other projects. There are many, many types of animals on this site. There are probably animals listed that the children have not even thought of before. The animals are alphabetically listed, with many detailed animals under the broad list of animals. An example is parakeets. Then are many types of parakeets from which the children can choose. They also have animals broken down into types of primates, rodents, mammals etc. I don't really see a difficulty with this site. It seems pretty straight forward and easy to use.

Pictures of Animals -- Animal Photos! This website contains pictures of animals listed in alphabetical order. Some of the pictures may lack that professional quality, but the list is long. It is a great website for science, social studies, language arts and elementary school projects. This website is listed under the Creative Commons as free to use on websites and other projects. One especially nice feature which makes it great for younger students to easily give credit is that it provides the crediting information for you, simply copy and paste the html code or the name of the source.

The images (photos and graphics) are available for FREE use within this site which is a teacher-designed resource for by teachers and their students; however, other use must gain permission. A slight risk (especially for minors) is the button that reads "Become an EduPic Host click here for more details" is a potential risk, because physical communication is sought by the web creator. This is an opportunity to have someone come stay in your home and possibly a camera man in order to come capture the scenery and have it posted on Edupic (the host receives a blurb/mentioning on the site). There is a section that allows you to quick search using hotlinks in order to quickly access related lists of images. Once you find a desired image, functions allow you to view a larger image, copy/save the image, copy the image URL, or find the image on Google (so you can find primary source information). There are cartoon-like images and real-life images, which can be used over a wide range of grade levels (K-12). The site also offers information on the Contributor's and provides access to the EduPic Blog.

the web site of The New York Public Library Mid-Manhattan Library Picture Collection Online. This site is copyright free. It contains a multitude of historical pictures. These pictures are listed to be created before 1923. One will find pictures of animals, fashion, hair, people, textile, period pieces. The pictures on this website would be very useful in creating a project or paper about history. If you are going to use these pictures for other reason than personal or project usage, you will need to get special permission. Latina Hill

Galaxy of Images | Smithsonian Institution Libraries - 0 views

Here are images from the Smithsonian's amazing libraries! Low resolution images from this web site may be downloaded free for "personal, research or study purposes." If you need a higher resolution image, there is a small fee, but the policy states that the downloadable images may be used for classroom and student purposes. There are some great things here for science, social studies and ELA projects.
