How to install and uninstall applications in Fedora[Terminal and Graphical] | techieCode - 0 views

"This tutorial will show you how to install and uninstall applications in Fedora using PackageKit(Graphical) and yum(Terminal). I am using the Fedora 18. If you are the Ubuntu user, see managing software's in Ubuntu via Terminal. If you have just switched from Windows environment to Linux, first do the installing using the Graphical interface. It's way simple and easy. Whereas, application installing and uninstalling is much more faster via Terminal. You just have to be little bit familiar with the command language and Linux commands. GM45 chipsets: remove the ME (manageability engine) - 0 views

"This sections relates to disabling and removing the ME (Intel Management Engine) on GM45. This was originally done on the ThinkPad X200, and later adapted for the ThinkPad R400/T400/T500. It can in principle be done on any GM45 or GS45 system. The ME is a blob that typically must be left inside the flash chip (in the ME region, as outlined by the default descriptor). On GM45, it is possible to remove it without any ill effects. All other parts of coreboot on GM45 systems (provided GMA MHD4500 / Intel graphics) can be blob-free, so removing the ME was the last obstacle to make GM45 a feasible target in libreboot (the systems can also work without the microcode blobs). "by Joshua Gay - Published on Jan 06, 2016 02:42 PM The world of computer hardware products is in many respects a dark and dismal place when it comes to computer user freedom: graphics processors, network controllers, and even the low-level boot systems of most computers use proprietary software. However, we know that this situation is not due to a lack of demand from users for hardware that respects them. People want this, but in the absence of options, have just resigned themselves to accepting mistreatment. "
