    The marimba (also known as the Marimbaphone) is a keyed instrument from the percussion family. The sound is obtained by hitting the keys, which are usually made of wood, with mallets. It has a sound field of 4 ⅓ - 5 ½ octave ( C2 - F7 ). The keys are arranged like a piano.
