How about Second Life? You can collaborate in building objects, avatars, scripts, share fun, learning and even money , earned by group efforts. Fridemar admin of DiigoSecondLife
PS.: What about using tags and social annotation based links for this collaboration forum to make collaboration easier within Diigo and beyond?
Forbes had a not so nice writeup on Second Life in their July 2nd issue. The just is that early commercial adopters have pulled out and that an epidemic sex rampage is occurring throughout the virtual land. While it's a bit over the top it's not a bad idea to keep in touch with other viewpoints..

I can see those kinds of things happening, however Dr. Pache's larger point that these gaming sites are areas of collaboration should not be over looked. I play http://tribalwars.net and the amount of collaboration that goes on there is amazing. They conduct whole synchronized attacks and defenses in that game. Its easy to over look the robustness and complexity of these interaction because its just a game, but I think they are worthy of discussion and analysis.
They also make for great social networking. Things like Party poker and other such game sites, I have made new friends and acquaintances with a diverse set of interests. I mark them as friends in the game environment and I seek them out the next time I sit down to play. Its like chat with a game attached.
Interesting how you can even have whole conferences and things in second life. Never played the game myself, but looks interesting. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w1-3vaB3sRU
