Doctopus allows you to share a document with your entire class without having to share individually and without having to place it in the Template Gallery. Plus, it collects all of the data in one spreadsheet! You can share the document for the whole class to work on it, for group work, or for individual work.

    Algebra II Students in High School "The student council has asked the principal to add one more minute between classes, to cut down on the number of students tardy for class. The principal has asked your class to study the matter and make a recommendation. Here are guidelines provided by the principal: 1 - Bus schedules cannot be changed. 2 - Classes must meet at minimum of 210 minutes a week 3 - Homeroom time is required." Benefits: Strong student buy-in! Students are always complaining about time between classes. Teaches data collection, statistics, time management, and poll taking techniques. Pitfalls: Students will come up with illogical arguments. Time!

  • 1. Team meetings: Meet with each team for at least 10 -15 minutes at key points during the project. This will take a couple of days if you have 6 - 8 teams in a class, but the time investment is worth it.
  • 2. Team Rep meetings: This is almost the opposite of the Team meeting, where you meet with only 1 person from each team. If the class has 7 teams then you meet with the 7 team reps all at the same time.
  • 3. Make your class space as self-service as possible: Take time at the beginning of the year to set the culture that the students can take care of themselves and get what they need for their learning. As students get better (trained) at knowing how to act appropriately in the class space, your teaching is more powerful. You can pay attention to the important things like responding to questions, having deep conversations with individuals or teams, or even giving a short lecture because the students have asked for that information in the Need to Know list.
