Using Ipod Podcasting to Learn English - 0 views

  •
Another interesting use of the ipod would be to use it to help teach English to language learners. This site talks a bit about how it can be helpful for pronunciation, listening and speaking. Students can hear a native speaker and work on their own pronunciation, repeating what they hear on the ipod. They can also, pause, rewind, etc. which is more difficult to do and tiring for an actual physical person to do (repeating phrases over and over). This way kids don't have to feel guilty if they don't get something right away, and they don't have to feel like they are bothering their tutor by asking them to repeat.

Short video. Discusses value of listening to audiobooks on iPods, especially for kids who aren't read to at home. Audiobooks are good model of fluent reading and being able to listen on iPod increases motivation to read.
