      sadly, this is something that is always left to the end to 'clean up'. Meaning, the spec is complete when the project is delivered versus kept up to date and in sync with what we are delivering.
  • A prototype is intended to answer specific questions about functionality or interaction styles. If you don't have any questions, don't bother with a prototype

    This article is in french, sorry for that but I could find no relevant group to share this. Briefly it talks about how programmers (those who actually code) are perceived here in France: As guys dwelling the bottom of the hierarchy, whom only ambition *should be* to become lead progr. or better (architect, project lead, ...). i.e. programmer is not really seen as a career.

      Simple but sweet. I doubt it wil beat Google Docs for attracting collaborating groups, but it might! Corporations may want to do something similar with their private storage. How do they avoid malicious macros propagating from one cloud user to the next?

      VB doesn't mean "Visual Basic" any longer. This is clever leverage, I think, and one that will be supported by the open source community, because the cloud specs are open documents.

  • I laugh when people say poor performance on older hardware was a mjor Smalltalk weakness. We routinely delivered applications that ran on 386 and 68020 processors with 8MB RAM. And yes, they were quite snappy. No, the reason Smalltalk didn’t catch on is because Sun spent more money on Java marketing than was spent on all computer languages combined, since the dawn of time.
