Mitral valve prolapse is a condition in which the valve existing between the left heart chambers starts malfunctioning. Also known as Mitral valve stenosis, it affects the mitral valve. The flaps of the valve are floppy. Typically they bulge backward or prolapse as the heart contracts.

Mitral valve stenosis is a heart condition that causes the narrowing of the valve between the two left chambers of your heart. This narrowed valve reduces the flow of blood, thus impacting other body parts as well. There are various treatments that can be suggested for the same: Medications, Balloon Valvuloplasty and Mitral valve replacement.
