I've been preparing a class session on communities of practice this weekend, and it's been underscoring for me just how important people are to an effective learning environment. We're independent adults, and we like to think of learning as something that each of us does for ourselves, but all the terrific resources in the world can't hold a candle to the power of what can occur between people.
Smart video collections keep appearing on YouTube. But rather antithetical to the ethos of its parent company (Google), YouTube unfortunately makes these collections difficult to find. So we've decided to do the job for them. These enriching/educational videos come from media outlets, cultural institutions, universities and non-profits. There are about 70 collections in total, and the list will grow over time. If we're missing anything good, feel free to let us know, and we'll happily add them. You can find the complete list below the jump.

Once again, we had a record number of participants at the 2009 Symposium for Teaching and Learning with Technology. Nearly 400 faculty, staff, and students came out to spend a Saturday discussing the ways that technology can be used to enrich teaching, learning, and research.
If you missed the keynote presentation, we have it available now along with other videos about the Symposium:
