To promote more movement of immigrants who do not find a chance with other skilled Australian immigration programs like Subclass 189(Skilled Independent visa) and Subclass 190 (Skilled Nominated visa), the Department of Home Affairs has introduced a Australia New point system for a newly launched batch of skilled visa, in place of the skilled regional (provisional visa) 489, called the 491 Visa or Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa.

Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa also known as the 491 visa for those for whom other immigration pathways to Australia have been closed.

Due to which the Department of Immigration and Citizenship has launched the 491 visa which you can even name as Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) subclass, which permits skilled workers who are qualified as well as their families to live, work as well as study in designated regional areas of Australia for a period that can reach up to 5 years.

Subclass 491 (Skilled Work Regional) Visa has the same Australia Visa Process requirements and procedure but provide better opportunities for the immigration aspirants. You must obtain either state government nomination or sponsorship by the family member settled in the designated regional area.

From July 2021, South Australia officially opened its migration program for the year 2021-2022. The state will now start accepting applications for both subclass 190 and 491. South Australia skilled occupation list has also highlighted occupations that are currently in demand.

Subclass 491 visa have been sprung by the Department of Home Affairs of Australia, that seeks to allow qualified skilled workers that are compulsory as per the necessities of the local and designated areas of Australia to live, labour and do education in Australia in a time span of 5 years.
