The main objective of the Intergeo Project is to make digital content for mathematics teaching in Europe more accessible, usable and exploitable.
Intergeo will...
* offer content in a searchable and metadata-tagged portal.
* enable users to use their software of choice by specifying a common file format based on open standards.
* test available material in the classroom. All stakeholders, software teams, resource authors, teachers and learners will be involved, in order to promote quality enhancement cycles.
Journey North is a world-wide project in which K-12 students track wildlife migration and the changing the seasons, share their data with other classrooms, and learn about science, math, and the world around them in the process. "Journey South" (tracking fall's progress in the northern hemisphere) is beginning now, and you can use that program to prepare for spring's Journey North in your classroom. Free registration is required to share data online. The general public is welcome to participate. The site offers standards-aligned lesson plans and resources for teachers, as well as a portal for kids.
"Welcome to the website that is designed to help anyone who is studying Secondary School Mathematics at Level E, Level F, Standard Grades or Higher Still Levels Intermediate 1 or 2 and Higher."
Within this site you will find lesson ideas, examples, and downloads for mathematics that embrace active learning, constructivism, and project-based learning while remaining true to the standards. The initial focus will be for grades 5 and up, but teachers of younger students may be able to find some uses or inspiration from the site. Higher level thinking skills, such as analysis, synthesis, and creativity are encouraged as well as technology skills and social learning. The scope of this site is mathematics, but many lessons lend themselves to interdisciplinary activities also.
The NSDL Middle School Portal is hosting this blog to help middle school math and science teachers find the best online resources on the web. These posts reflect the topics that are being searched for in the Middle School Portal site. We start each post with a rationale for the topic, typically connecting the topic to the national math or science standards. Each resource is hot-linked and accompanied by a brief description by which you can quickly judge whether it's a resource that is likely to be useful to you in your teaching.
